Description: Amiya"s graceful atmosphere creates a sense of the modish and provides a welcoming environment in which to have a comfortable business lunch or romantic dinner. While the ambiance of the restaurant is charming, it is the outstanding cuisine that makes this an intriguing and popular dining spot. Chef Chand juxtaposes the traditionalness of Indian cuisine that one craves for when thinking of Indian food with ingredients not traditionally seen on a typical Indian menu. Also noteworthy are the intimate selection of specialty cocktails, wine and beer.

I like Indian food, this place; though lacking in decor; has food that is better than average. It has a few Punjabi dishes that I hadn't tried before, that were good.If you are stuck in Newport for any reason, and you want food that is tasty, inexpensive and served by congenial and attentive waiters, this is the place. Far above the... More

Ate here for lunch with a large group of coworkers. It was a buffet with a large selection. Although the selection was vast, the quality leaves little to be desired. I wasn't too impressed with the chicken curry or chicken tikka masala. Tandori chicken was good. Dessert was blah and the nan was burnt and not fresh. I think they... More

I've eaten here and ordered delivery. Entrees came before appetizers when dining in. Service was terrible. Had to ask for our rice three times. Delivery to to only .5 miles away took 1.5 hours and the order wasn't right. Too bad. This place had decent food once upon a time. More

I really love this place. I have been here more than once which means I do like it (I can't say that about too many restaurants). We are vegetarians and non-drinkers but here they have a great vegetarian range and also a great non-alcoholic drink range. The flavours of the food and drinks are what I'd call aromatic. It is... Went to Amiya after a few months for dinner. Food as usual was the best but to top it all the service was exceptional, second to none. We had a great time. When you go there, don't forget to try their coriander soup, mutton keema and chilli paneer. Oh and their lassi is just divine :-) More

We went there for an office lunch. The place was crowded because there are literally hundreds of offices within walking distance from Amiya. Let's first talk about the food. Selection was very limited (being a buffet I would assume the food choices should be broad to appeal the average Joe). They ran out of one of the entrees in the... More

I always try to get at least one meal here when in Jersey City. The staff are great, food is very good and not too expensive. Unusually for an Indian Restaurant they also serve cocktails. More

There's not as much Indian food choice in jersey city , so v used to be regulars at amiya. Allnof a sudden things got really bad ... Restaurant is too small and crowded, bad slow service . Then v started to order home, delivery is a hit or miss. Once it took them 2.5 hrs to bring the food ,... More

Great Indian food. Cost somewhere around 13$-18$ per head. Serves great lunch buffets on the weekends. The food is very tasty, the service a tad bit slow. You have to wait a lot of time for the food to arrive to your table. Ambiance is ok. Food is mostly North Indian. Great assortments of Indian sweet dishes More

We have been visiting Amiya for the past 2-3 years. This has undoubtedly been one of the better indian restaurants in Jersey City. However, we have noticed a sharp deterioration in quality and service over the past 6-8 months. We went for the Indian buffet on mothers day and found the restaurant packed to the hilt, servers did'nt know how... More
