The restaurant has white table clothes, the waitstaff are very friendly and helpful. The chicken is good, but the waffles are amazing! Try their traditional fried chicken and waffles. They have a very good selection of starters and mains to choose from and the prices are reasonable. Their local beer, a Harlem brew, is very nice to try, it's called... More

Very disappointed to share that soul flavors closed earlier this month. My understanding is that they never really recuperated from the financial damage caused by Hurricane Sandy...

Had a great meal, ribs were excellent, chicken stew great, everybody liked the mashed sweet potatoes. Small restaurant, great staff and BYOB so your bill is reasonable; can't beat that.

So excited to finally have some southern cooking. I haven't had a biscuit since moving to Jersey. We ordered the cornbread/biscuit appetizer. Cornbread was good, but munchkin size. The biscuits were ok. Cod cakes disappointing. The Mac-n-cheese good, but not great. The mash potatoes were so runny they served with a spoon. They were flavorless. I asked for gravy. The... More

Great classic soul food all made from scratch, just make sure to bring your own wine/beer and block off a good chunk of time as it will take a while to eat, but it's sooooo worth it. Love the fried chicken and mac and cheese

First off, I think this place is overpriced. Everything is priced ala carte. I've never been to a soul food restaurant that doesn't give 2 sides with their entrée. Not here, everything is priced separately. They do offer a $30 combo which includes a salad or appetizer, an entrée with one side and a dessert. Sounds good, right? The problem... More

Food was good, not great but good. Too pricey for what you get. Service was horrible. Our waitress wore a necklace that said princess, I guess that's what she thought she was. Staff does not care about customers. Waitress messed up our order and did nothing to fix it. I will never return.

After reading mostly glowing reviews on Tripadvisor, we visited this restaurant last night. We arrived early for dinner, at 4:30 PM. We were the only customers in the restaurant when we arrived and were greeted warmly as we were seated. We brought our own bottle of wine and the host opened it and brought an ice bucket and glasses. First... More

This is a great little place! The cornbread is the best I ever had. Biscuits were yummy too. I had ox tails, my husband had the pork ribs. Both were excellent. We also had the mac and cheese, collard greens, sauteed spinach and black eyed peas. Everything was authenticly seasoned, freshly cooked. The black eyed peas were not as soft... More

Fried Buttermilk chicken on top of perfect waffles with a cream maple reduction...heaven! The biscuits and corn bread were prefection. The sides of mac and cheese (ok, but I am not a fan usually of it), but LOVED the okara which had a smoky flaor and consistency was ice and leafy, not mushy. Great place, service, got there when they... More
