The food at Cucharamama is not what most N. Americans, who are used to Mexican food, have come to expect. This is authentic and relies on a different palate of spices and more subtle flavors. Every chef/ restaurant is different but this food was similar to what I have eaten in Peru, Ecudaor, Costa Rica.

Cucharamama can take on any competition when it comes to authentic South American cuisine. The wood oven pizza adds an additional range of flavorful dishes. In the top 5 restaurants in Hoboken.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated with authentic decorations from South America. The food is delicious, especially the roasted meats, cooked in the brick-oven. The variety of the items in the menu swipes among different South American cousins: Argentinian, Colombian, Venezuelan, Ecuadorena. We were gladly surprised to try different cousins in one place only and all them exquisite! The service... More

I have been here several times, and always had a good experience. Caveat: I live in town and do not drive, so parking could be an issue. There are parking lots very close (It's next to a hospital), but not sure they validate. Food is very good, especially the hot bread right out of the oven with the cinnamon butter!... More

This place does not take resavations, so be prepared to wait. And there is only parking on the street. Sitting in the front room of the resturant is where you want to be. The back of resturant seems a little too small and the table are too close together. If you are going to use the restroom that is located... More

My daughter recently took me to Cucharamama for Mother's Day while I was visiting her in Hoboken. I'd recently been to Peru, so finding this authentic Peruvian restaurant was a real treat. Started with a drink, appetizers and brunch menu for the special day. We were able to sit outside and enjoy the warm spring weather but sitting inside one... More

Apps are awesome. Very good variety. Four apps. were all well shared by a table of four. Skirt steak was perfect and flavorful. Drinks were well poured. Got the Margarita wrong, asked for no salt, listen to the customers needs. Flavored bread with a well seasoned butter/garlic spread. Bread pudding flavored with chocolate and coffee was great. No pressure, a... More

I haven't been here in about 5 years and I was just as thrilled and impressed as I was the first time. The food is truly amazing. Its exciting and new and fresh. Its different than anyplace you will go. We ate at the bar, letting the bartender make suggestions for our meals and he was dead on with his... More

We came out of our way to visit this restaurant as were staying in midtown. We read about this place online and were rather excited to eat there. Cuisine is Southern American which is something we don't get in Scotland, Mexican food is common here but not Bolivian or Venezuelan so were keen to try it. This place is a... More

Prices are too high for such small portions. Most of the menu is essentially tapas! Taste is good but staff was not friendly and slow. It took us 15 min only to order and the restaurant was empty. After two courses each we were all still hungry. Not worth it. There are better places in Hoboken!
