Improving with Every Visit

I started to come to Cucharamama when it opened way back when in 1999(?). I give it three tries and stopped coming. It was terrible. I went back three years ago and it seemed the restaurant was coming around, service improved, the food improved and the experience was enough to get me to return... read more

With so many choices in Hoboken, this restaurant should not be overlooked. Love everything I order here and their octopus appetizer is the best octopus you will eat in your life. I'm lucky to have stopped in again and enjoyed it recently.

Our fist visit was nearly perfect in every way. We were seated immediately for our 9pm reservation. The restaurant was lively with a welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter made some great suggestions for appetizers with spinach, bacon-onion sofrito, manchego empanadas and carparinas, followed by the Argentinian flank steak and Columbian style potatoes and a reasonably priced bottle of red wine. I... More

If it wasn't for the almost nonexistent service (except for water) until we went to find our waiter, I would give this restaurant 5 stars. As our dinner progressed, the service got better. Still a little hit or miss when asked for more drinks. The food is excellent. I want to go back again. The empanadas were so good. So... More

We had 12 people in our party and we had a blast !! Best fruity sangria spicy tamales like in Peru. Love this place! Lively music and great friendly service. Highly recommended

This place comes up time and again in the NJ bests... Lists. Parking is a bear. Don't waste your time looking for street parking. Use the lot just a block down. The service is friendly. The place is warm and dimly lit (bring your readers). Great food. Well worth a revisit.

I live right around the corner and have eaten here a number of times. The food is usually very good. The service is almost always way too slow. It's not like they're simply allowing you to enjoy your meal instead of rushing you out. It goes beyond acceptable. The restaurant itself is relatively small and there are a couple of... More

My date and I had booked a table for two. We arrived at the appointed time. The first table offered to us was right by the door and offered no ambiance. Why a table was placed there which could be a clear hazard when leaving the restaurant is unsuitable. A second table way in the back was placed again as... More

Arrived on a snowy night at 8:14p to find out our table had been given away and the next available would involve a 90 minute wait. Hostess showed no compassion for the fact that we came out on a lousy evening to honor the reservation that was made a week in advance. Will not be back.

I have been here twice for brunch and have truly enjoyed the food. The French toast is unique and delicious. Be sure to try the syrup. Just beware....there is a step in the darker back section of the restaurant. While looking around for the unmarked bathrooms, I took quite a fall down on my knee. Be warned!
