Very good meal in a small setting. The food was very good but the place only has about 5 small tables inside. Had the shrimp cevechie and salmon it was great

We were wandering around Hoboken Path station looking for good place to have breakfast before heading to Manhattan. This small Cuban restaurant, which I often frequented when there for lunch, was open for breakfast to our delight. The 3 of us had 3 different kinds of breakies for us to share, and all were really good. The meals were in... More

Food is consistently great and portions are bountiful. They also provide "batidos" of a variety of flavors, as well as typical desserts. They do not have a liquor license, but will help you open your bottle(s) of wine. Staff is friendly and the restaurant is fairly small. If you are planning on having a group larger than 4, it is... La Isla is a small restaurant on Washington St in Hoboken. When one enters the restaurant there is a counter with seven or eight stools on the left and 4 or 5 tables on the right. The food, Cuban cuisine, is good compared to other restaurants in the area but compared to restaurants in Maimi it's only ok. It is... More

Best place to eat in Hoboken. Famous for weekend brunches, but excellent anytime. One of the only places that I would wait on line for.

Never judge a book by its cover. Although the place is small, the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious, the prices are reasonable and service is good. To add to this review, this restaurant is BYOB. I recommend the Churrasco and the Cuban Sandwich. Although every dish we ordered including the appetizers were delicious.

Haven't been back to Hoboken for years but had a chance to stop by this weekend. Disappointed to see a line down the block for Carlos' but La Isla has not changed at all. Still has the best Cuban food north of Havana. Fresh ingredients are combined in simple but perfectly cooked and seasoned dishes that make you wish you... More

Despite being in New York dozens of times I had never gone over to Hoboken. Just a short trip on the PATH train, however, yielded a couple great things - a wonderful, unique view of Manhattan and a delicious Cuban lunch. La Isla is a tiny lunch counter with a handful of four-top tables. We had a group of five... More

We ate here on a Friday night. We walked from the Westin in Jersey City along the waterfront, which was a nice 20 minute walk. Although La Isla wasn't what we were looking for, we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is tiny and narrow, with a counter and a single row of seating on the inside. The food here was... More

They were sold out of the french toast they're known for. Based on past reviews we expected more. I had a salad that was good, and my husband had pancakes that were good.
