Cuban Food At It's Best!

Great Cuban Food. Friendly Staff. I would suggest the Cuban Sandwich and the Chicken with Rice was always amazing. The Empanada's were outstanding. We sat at the bar and enjoyed conversing with the wait staff.

I've lived in Hoboken for years and never really noticed this spot. It's unassuming from the outside and tiny but the food is unreal. Love the specials - amazing layers of flavor, good prices and BYOB. Must try the frozen key lime pie for dessert - unique and delicious. Service is always friendly and attentive.

I have lived in Hoboken since 2007 and this is the first time I have ever been to La Isla. I figured before I move out of the city I should make sure I hit all the good restaurants so naturally I started from the top of the Trip Advisor list and the rest is history. From the outside, this... More

We have been here a couple of times since moving to Hoboken and it is fast becoming our "go to" place. The food is excellent and service to match. Whatever you do get their COFFEE, may be the best thing in the place!

Stopped in here for dinner last night and it was wonderful. Definitely some of the best Cuban food I've had outside of Havana. The place itself has a greasy spoon feel, but the food and coffee don't disappoint. We stopped in around 9pm on a Sunday and sat at the bar - counter service was good, everything came out hot... The most special thing about the food was the Cuban "toast", second would have to be the coffee. The food was diner worthy, but there wasn't much special about it. Perhaps we need to return for lunch or dinner. We ate outside on a gorgeous day, so that was nice. The staff weren't rude, but they were slow and clumsy... More

There is no food that don't worth a try. Best is bacalao on Friday and pork on Wednesday. Bring your own wine, they serve only sodas. One of my favorite restaurant in my town

Had a great Sunday brekkie here, on recommendation from a local colleague. She had suggested the famous guava stuffed frenchtoas - as seen on TV (featured in a reality TV cook-off, or something), but I was more than happy with egg sandwich - all fresh, healthy, on multigrain, not dripping with butter, perfect - and a fruit cup. A sideways... More

We arrived at La Isla at 11:50am or thereabouts and remembered that they're strict about breakfast hours ending at noon so we grabbed two seats at the counter. Thankfully, we made that move as the group behind us had to order from the Lunch Menu. Although the breakfast food is quite brunchy, they stick with an old school Cuban vibe... More
