Great Cuban Breakfast

My son attends Stevens University and he loves this small neighborhood restaurant. I understand why. The French toast is unbelievable. I had an omelette made with plantains, spinach and queso. And topping it off was a fresh cup of Cuban coffee. Highly recommend

Suddenly, Cuban restaurants seemed to pop up around Hoboken. So far, "la Isla" has, and still is the most authentic Cuban restaurant in Hoboken. It's a tiny place BUT, they have a new location uptown hoboken that's much bigger and with a vintage look. For a real Cuban experience, so far, La Isla is a definite must.

Went full a late dinner on a Friday night because the place is always packed. Only waited about 10 minutes for a table outside. Our meals were absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and we brought our own wine. Will definitely become regulars.

We went for breakfast mid week. There is a good atmosphere and a mixed clientele. Good range on menu from pancakes to Cuban dishes. Kids had pancakes and they were very good especially the blueberry ones. I had heuvos rancheros which is poached eggs in a chilly sauce on black beans and rice with tacos. It was very good. I... A refreshing new venue in North Hoboken! I live in the Maxwell neighborhood in Hoboken and about a month ago they opened the new La Isla restaurant in our building, (there is also a smaller La Isla in downtown Hoboken). We have eaten there several times since it opened and I have to tell you that the food is fantastic!... More

I've been there a few times and honestly am never crazy about this place. On my last visit I picked up a dessert. Tres leches to be exact. Took it home and it was spoiled and sour. I asked the guy to deliver me a few dessert. Refused. Ok, so I waked back and told them I wanted something else.... More

Dropped in for lunch thanks to the Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives feature. We greatly enjoyed the papa rellenas, choripan and Cuban sandwiches, and the speedy service! Next time I want to try their French toast breakfast (featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay). I'd definitely recommend dropping in for a quick, casual, and affordable bite to eat!

It was so busy for a Tuesday night! We managed to get a seat at the Bar, all the tables were booked out! The ceviche small plate was so delicious. I had a salad with Shrimp for my main course which was very tasty. My Husband had the Garlic Chicken dish which I tasted, very nice, huge portion. The wine... More

This is our favorite breakfast place. You need to get there when the doors open otherwise you will not get a seat. The cafe con leche is a must, they have the best coffee I have had in the states. You can not go wrong with anything in the menu there. I usually get an omlet.

This sister location to the original La Isla (on Washington Street in Hoboken) opened on or about mid-June 2015. It's a block away from Sinatra Drive which is situated on the Hudson River with spectacular view of Manhattan. With its entrance flanked by two enormous palm trees, it is located at Maxwell Place on 12th Street off Hudson Street in... More
