Surprisingly delicious!

I didn't know what to expect from this tavern on the corner, but I'm glad we tried it. The food was delicious. We loved the white mussels. The crab cakes are lump and very good. My man got the salmon and it was delicious. We were stuffed, but the waiter talked us into desert; that too was... read more

What a surprise!! Food was great!! My husband had the French Onion Soup which he said was as good as the soup he had in Paris. I had to he grilled polenta; the mushrooms were plentiful, but accented the polenta very nicely. My main course wad the Frutta de Mare, seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. The white sauce... I have been cooking a traditional 7-fish Christmas Eve dinner for many years, but since my mother-in-law passed away and my daughter-in-law could not help me cook, we decided to go to a restaurant for this special meal. Our experience with special holiday menus in the past has been disappointing but, since we've had such wonderful past experiences at Max's,... More

My husband has been talking about Max's for montys. Had our Thanksgiving dinner there. Although the restaurant offered two special menus for Thanksgiving, both offered several selections in each course. We chose the Thanksgiving Dinner menu. I chose the sauteed wild mushroom grilled polenta. It was to die for. Polenta was a perfect consistency . The wild mushroom sauce had... More

My husband and I just returned from our first experience at Max's, and we spent the entire car ride back talking about how we can't wait to return. Service, atmosphere and food were all excellent. We had the Thai mussels as an app. They were yummy with just the right amount of spice. Hubby had the scallops and I had... More

This was our first visit to Max's and we enjoyed our dinner. My Jumbalaya was very good and the flavor of my partner's pasta with mussels was also very good. The bread served with the meal was fresh and crispy as well. The pasta with mussels had a little too much liquid so the pasta was floating in the bowl.... More

We've been to Max's many times in the past decade or so. My favorite thing to do is bring some folks who've never been - done it many times and always with the same result: Max's makes a shocking impression! Locals who've somehow avoided the place might look at you a little funny at first when you suggest going to... More

Max's is one of the best seafood restaurants in the South Jersey/Philadelphia area. We have been here a few times and the food is consistently very good. On our most recent visit we had oysters and grilled octopus appetizers which were very good. Entrees (seared boat day scallops, lobster ravioli, and crab cakes) were delicious. Live music was very enjoyable.... More

We love Max's! Maybe not where you'd expect to have an excellent dinner and fine wine and beer, but they have a parking lot across the street and original building charm inside. Events in the wine cellar. Try the Thai mussels!

We have eaten here with kids, family and friends alike - never a bad seating. Great parking in the lot across the street. Great seafood as well - must try the grilled octopus, even if you have never had it you may become a convert! Oyster selection is limited to 3 varieties but they were chilled well and quickly.
