Surprised

Never heard of Max's but I'm so glad I was introduced to this little gem. Great Happy Hour food and drink specials. $5 vodka drinks, wine, and food. Went with friends and we shared perfectly cooked fried calamari, two types of mussels, Caprese flat bread, and warm crab dip. We sat at the beautiful... read more

Stopped for dinner on a recent Sunday. The food itself was good, quite good in some circumstances, but the meal took entirely too long with long gaps between seeing a waiter to even get additional drinks. The food was good enough that I will go back and try again, hopefully with better service. I will say, the place is very... More

We were looking for a new place to eat on our way home from a long and exhausting day in PA. On a whim, my husband entered Glouscester County in a restaurant search engine and suddenly remembered that 35 years ago, while working in Gloucester City, he would have lunch in a "hole in the wall place" under the Walt... This was an unexpected gem. Tucked neatly in a residential neighborhood under the Walt Whitman Bridge minutes from the airport and adjacent to the river, this little place packs a lot of high quality Louisiana cuisine in an unassuming location. The fried oysters were huge and succulent. The seafood jambalaya was rich and full of shrimp, crawfish, chicken, okra, and... More

Went to Max's a few years ago and really enjoyed the food. Always meant to go back. My husband's sister and her husband invited us out for dinner and we suggested Max's as it was mid-way between our house and theirs. We had 5:00PM reservations which was good since an hour or so later it got really crowded. Our server... More

Interesting but mixed experience. The restaurant is attractive and very nicely appointed. There is a bar area and a large dinning room. I liked the decor. The menu offers nice variety of seafood, meat and pasta dishes. There are wines by the glass and variety of beers. My husband described his crabcakes as "the best he ever had". My schnitzel was... Folks, it pains me to actually scribe what I am about to review of my beloved Max's Cafe. We had parlayed a daughter's college graduation/dinner celebration until this past Sunday evening, the 22nd of February. We reserved for a party of 9, and, upon arrival, were seated in the (largest dining area) upstairs from the bar. (6:45pm) A new young... More

Just returned from lunch. We had reservations for tomorrow evening to celebrate my husband's birthday, but, unfortunately, the weather report is calling for snow. No worries! Since we didn't know if we would be able to make dinner reservations for tonight, we decided on a late lunch. We had looked forward to returning since our first dinner experience with friends... One of the best meals ever! The atmosphere was wonderful with the wood and exposed brick creating a warm feeling. The service was on point at all times and management also checked in with us at our table. The food was beautifully presented and taste terrific. Can't wait to go back again and bring friends.

Wandering down Broady Mall, we just won $650 on the pokie machine so were looking for a seafood platter to celebrate. They had a sign out the front, I believe it was $79 with a bottle of wine.. It was great, so much fresh seafood, fruit etc, 1 little downpoint, If only they hadn't served SO MUCH deep friend seafood... More
