We live literally 15-20 mins from here and this was our first time here. We walked into the bar and were welcomed immediately. Our server Ashley was very friendly and we had very little wait for our food. The food was delicious and the perfect portion. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

The service was friendly and nice. They have a nice menu offering. Based on what I read about Max's they specialize in mussels. My wife ordered them and they were ok. Not great. Not any better, bigger or fresher than most anywhere else. I ordered the salmon and shrimp. It too was ok. Nothing special and a bit dry. Nice... More

Dined this evening with friends. We couldn't believe that in all our years of dining in the Philadelphia area that we had never heard of Max's! We enjoyed the chicken escarole soup to start and then my husband and I shared the clams casino appetizer. The best escarole soup ever...loaded with chicken; seasoned perfectly! Clams casino had a delicious cornbread... More

I know several people who have dined here and raved about the food, so I was a bit disappointed this evening. Our group tonight had an inconsistent experience with some really liking the food while others finding it uninspired. Portions varied tremendously from plentiful to scant. The menu is a la carte. Variety is sufficient tho not extensive. Prices are... More

My fried sea food combo was made with panko bread crumbs and was prepared well and tasted delicious. My wife said that her steamed clams and mussels in red sauce were to die for. This was the second time we were there in about 3 weeks. If the food stays like this we will keep gioing back.

We were looking for something small and homey for my 50th birthday. Not too fancy--just good food and a warm atmosphere. Max's was the perfect spot. There were four of us and we ordered so much food that they almost needed to bring up a second table to have enough room for it all. Everything we had was excellent. From... More

Max's is a gem of a restaurant. The staff was kind and courteous. The restoration of the interior of the building is stunning. I had the jambalaya and my husband has mussels--we were both incredibly pleased with our meals. My portion was so large that I took half of it home. We sat at a high table right near the... More

My wife and I visited Max's last night and it was fantastic. From the time we walked in it had a warm feeling, to the beutifull old bar, to the exellent food and service. Everything was perfect, we are looking forward to visiting this fine restraunt again.

We returned to Max's for some sea food last evening. My bride has developed a recent "Jones" for crab cakes and wanted to try them out. The last time we were there was about a year ago. The menu was about the same. I had an encrusted salmon dish and all I could taist was the crust and the almost... More

My friends and I got together and went to Max's Seafood Cafe. We had never been there before. It's situated in a residential area of Gloucester City. They have their own parking lot which is helpful. Upon entering you have to go through the bar area which is long and narrow and crowded (was a Friday night). We were seated... More
