Great Food!

Really good Mexican food! Had lunch there and both of us were very happy with our meals. I had the corn enchiladas with chicken and mole sauce - just delicious! My friend had the chicken burrito with guacamole, beans and cheese - also terrific. The food is all "homemade" - as we found out... read more

Located in charming Frenchtown, this restaurant offers you both below-ground inside accommodations or, during fair weather, al fresco dining on the sidewalk. I've enjoyed both very much. The food is absolutely excellent, and reliably consistent. I have begun crossing the river more often to dine here just because I feel the food has improved immensely (and it was never bad)... More

We stopped for lunch and were SO glad that we did. What a cute restaurant, nestled in the basement of the building. Very authentic Mexican food! We had the Chimichanga, which included two very large pieces, lettuce tomato, guac, sour cream, your choice of sauce and beans and rice. Hubby had the soft tacos with homemade chorizo and absolutely loved... More

I was recently in Frenchtown and on the recommendation of a local person, decided to get some food to take home from this small Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Shrimp with garlic and chipotle sauce with vegetables (Camarones al mojo de ajo con chipotle) and got my wife the fish tacos. After wiaitng more than 40 minutes for my order,... More

I found the mole sauce outstanding - 5 worthy. The Fish Tacos were good - 4 range. The Tamales were a little lacking in flavor - 3 range. Service was enthusiastic but not very skilled - we only heard there were specials when a different server seated a table next to ours. The portions were moderate for the price, but... More

OK, I like Mexican food. Real Mexican food. This is NOT the place for Mexican. I can't say I've actually eaten here. Why? Because I have a diary allergy and I requested that my order be prepared with any dairy (cow's milk) products. I did so in English and Spanish. So what did they do? Prepared my order with butter... Enjoyed a rainy evening here, sorry I didn't take advantage of the BYOB option! Prompt seating, our waiter took very good care of us. Tip, It was warm near the kitchen, if you like cooler sit on the porch side. The black bean and chicken soup were both fabulous. The combination platters were big enough with small side of rice... Delaware river towns are not where you expect good Mexican food. However Cocina del sol is a nice find when you do not want the normal 'hotel food'. The menus is basic but taste and quantity very good. They make good use of fresh ingredients and have a nice guacamole. They are. BYOB, but my one negative is not having... More

We had a later Saturday nigh dinner (8PM), no wait, seated right away. We sat in the out cove - a bit romantic! The staff was very helpful and made you feel welcome. The food was very good, we had the steak/chicken/shrimp fajitas, served with re fried beans and rice. All of which was good! More than enough to eat....we... More
