We recently visited Frenchtown National Hotel & were pleasantly surprised. Last time we were there we did not have a good experience. But the manager tried to make up for it this time. Also, we had a different server who was very helpful & charming. We always order the fish & chips which I liken to Nancy's in Oak BUff,... More

My wife and I love this restaurant. There are so many unique and delicious food combinations and a seasonal Drink menu that is just as unique as the food. The service in the restaurant and at the bar is always prompt and very friendly, more than can be said about some other Inns in Frenchtown. The atmosphere feels comfortable and... More

We had Christmas Eve dinner here as first time visitors and couldn't have been more pleased with our "unexpected Christmas present." The ambiance was just as described, it felt like we stepped back in time. Our waitress, Gianna, was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the nicest things about this restaurant is the vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free menu choices, clearly... More

The title of your review is "An unexpected Christmas Present," but in fact, it is "An unexpected New Year's Eve Present" for us!! Thank you so much for every single word you wrote. You captured the essence of our vision, the fact that we work so hard to create a menu that we hope will be enjoyed by our community--a... More

Food is well worth the trip. The veal special was scarfed down by my wife and I fully consumed the pork shank. Add in the fact that the wine list is affordable and you have a great combination. Also much of the offering bring in the Indian spice fusion.

We are incredibly grateful to you for carving out the time to write your review. It is always so uplifting to read reviews where our guests share their experiences and let us know that we "got it right." And, the fact that you also appreciate our efforts to create dishes that utilize ingredients from far-away lands that add layers of... More

We usually go to Frenchtown National Hotel restaurant every few months or more, we have a favorite, fish & chips, it is just as good as the fish and chips at Nancy's in Oak Buffs, Martha's Vineyard where president Obama goes on his vacations. It was so good there that I never forgot it until I went to Frenchtown. The... More

Thank you for returning to the National Hotel and being a frequent guest. We are glad that you are returning customers and enjoy our food. We remember this incident and we addressed it with the waiter in question, as soon as you informed our manager about it, However, in his defense, the waiter did replace your beer with a full... We only had dinner in the downstairs restaurant and did not stay overnight. We chose to sit at one of the tables in the bar room instead of the (empty) main dining room. The bar stools were filled making the low-ceilinged room very noisy. Themenu includes some interesting Indian dishes. Well priced wine list too.

The cocktails and wines are fairly priced and done well. The servers are all friendly and we felt welcomed. The food was 50% good and 50% mediocre. The good was warm crab and mushroom salad and duck confit BLT. I don't know what the previous reviewer was writing about when he/she described how good the gumbo was. I received a... More

Thank you for your review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed the cocktails and felt the wine selections are fairly priced. We strive to create a comfortable atmosphere, where everyone is welcome. The same can be said about our food choices. We have worked very hard to create a fall and winter menu that will take advantage of locally-sourced... More

Pete (owner) and his school mate Marlon go the extra mile to make all guests, diners, or bar folk comfortable. Whether you eat in the dining room, at the bar, or downstairs in the "Rat" you're in for a delicious meal. The new fall menu was introduced this month and brings back one of my favorites -- gumbo. Other recommendations... More

It was about 9:00 pm on a Saturday night. We were simply looking for nice atmosphere, good drinks and dinner. It's a neat old inn with dining room and Rathskeller. The bar was lively. We were asked by the hostess dining or bar. We chose dining room. Very nice server who suggested some items from the menu. We were in... More
