Matt’s Red Rooster Grill is a contemporary American bistro paying homage to a wood fired grill that “brings out the best flavors” of traditional American cuisine, reinvented creatively. A CIA (Hyde Park) graduate, Chef Matt McPherson stays true to his local roots integrating the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local family farms & day boat fisherman into his unique dishes. The restored Victorian home provides a relaxed elegant atmosphere to catch up with friends, celebrate special occasions, enjoy a romantic dinner, or impress an important client. As Matt’s creations pamper your taste buds, the staff indulges you with rock star service, the perfect remedy for a long day or week. With two floors, downstairs feeds off the warmth & energy of a bustling open kitchen. Four seats at the Chef's counter let you feel the heat, as you watch Matt & his team from a perch over the grill. Upstairs is away from the bustle while the porch provides relaxed & refreshing outdoor dining.

Food Was Delicious, we love the location in the center of Historic Flemington. After dinner we took a walk down Main St. It is a little pricey so for us it is only for special occasions.

It was very disappointing. The food was just mediocre, expected better food for the prices they charge. Ambience was nice, staff was good.

The food is amazing. Upstairs is more intimate. Downstairs you can see the chef cooking which is a nice ambience. Great place for small groups & for a date night.

Hadn't gone to Matts for several years because it was always the same menu and not always good. Tried it again in September and it was very good. Went back in December and it was like a different restaurant. The apps were good but the main courses were so so. Dont understand why this is such a popular restaurant.

We went to Matt's Saturday night for an 8:15 reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes upstairs which is much nicer that the tables for 2 down stairs. Food was very good with a nice selection with the specials. Everything was very good including desert. I would recommend this to anyone but it is expensive.

Historic house converted into a wonderful restaurant. The food was excellent. The service was very good. As we had to wait ( for lingering customers to leave), the chef/owner/manager (?) and staff were VERY apologetic - we were presented with complimentary appetizers and dessert. While it was a bit noisy, our table in the corner allowed for conversation. If you... More

From the moment you enter Matt's Red Rooster, everything is done right. The hostess is gracious, the decor is classy and cozy, and the servers make you feel so special, especially our favorite server, Melissa. But the food is always the star! Last evening my husband had the Alaskan King Crab Legs and stated that they were the best he... More

Matt's is the absolute best place to eat in Hunterdon County. The quality of the food is consistently fresh and delicious. The restaurant is small and casual and they do not rush you in or out. Selection is small, although very well thought out and there is something for everyone. Make sure to reserve in advance and it's byob. For... More
