Small cozy place that provides excellent service. The portions are very big and the prices very reasonable. I had the plantains and found them lacking a sweet flavor. The fried calamari was okay. The chicken marsala was better when mixed with the rice. The marsala seemed like it had a light flavor which made eating it sort of bland. Overall... More

Food is great there has been for years. Love their garlic butter on the warm loaf of bread. Great place to meet friends or go on a date just remember its very noisy loud music and people trying to talk over each other.

The entrana in this place is awesome! So is the shrimp cocktail (always fresh),the picada, and many other dishes. You can't go wrong with the food here.. The crowded dining area is the downfall along with some of the patrons.. If u can get over that and the noise, go there for great food & drinks at good prices..if somehow... More

Had the pleasure of having dinner with friends at the City Tavern this past weekend. Dining room has a warm feel and the service staff was all bilingual ( English and Spanish). We started with some Sangria Pitchers, Red and Blue which were very tasty. Shrimp appetizer was spicy and delicious. Everyone has different variations of the skirt steak and... More

Was recommended by a friend to have their steak. Was not disappointed. Only drawback is bar atmosphere, loud music and talking. Great place to hang out and have bar food and drinks.

I had been going to city tavern for years BUT after my last experience I will NOT be going there again! The food was not what we ordered, it was bland and my rice had a FLY in it! Please read my story: I ordered my food to go and once I got home I realized that my order was... More

This place has lots to offer and is definitely one of the locals favorite. Their menu is great, but my personal favorites is the Mediterranean Salad. I like to add avocados to it as well. Their grilled check salad is good also and fair price. They also make very tasty specialty sangria. I'm usually not a fan of sangria, but... More

Been here a few times and it is moving to the top of my rotation! Among my favorites are the garlic shrimp appetizer and the whole red snapper as an entree. There is a full bar - two of them actually and the place just has a great vibe. I beleive the ethnicity of the food is Columbian and the... More

One block away from the Elizabeth Courthouse, the City Tavern has that New York after work feel. You can just stop in for a cup of espresso, sit at the bar, or go all out and have a full meal. The food is very good, has that ethnic Spanish flair. They also serve American food too if that is what... More
