Over forty years of the world's best pizza - tutto mangiare

When my parents were dating, this was the only place they would go to faithfully to eat hearty Italian comfort food and they have been doing so for over forty years. When my parents were dating, this was the only place they would go to faithfully to eat hearty Italian comfort food and they have been doing so for over forty years. My first taste of pizza almost forty years ago was here and they set the standard that my globe-trotting has not found an improvement on. I will occasionally go... More

This place is amazing...my family has eaten here for decades...and we've been served the same great food by the same waitresses! Truly traditional Italian. Juke box, birch beer..you get the idea. The Parmesan dishes and pizzas are one of a kind; house salad - great. The wait can be long and parking, a challenge...but it is worth it. It gets... More

Went to Spiritos for dinner. No butter, coffee or dessert but good basic food. Website link is incorrect, it takes you to a restaurant in RI. Would recommend!

If you're in Elizabeth, this place has great Italian food and hasn't changed in 20 or so years. Street parking and be careful of the hours. They close at 10:30pm but will close sooner sometimes. Pizza also very good.

This place has remained the same throughout the many years I have been a patron. Nothing and I mean nothing (except some waitresses) has changed! When you walk in you may see people standing awkwardly in the dining room - have no fear just hop on the end of the line! Cash only, no butter for bread, dessert and coffee... More

We went with another family. It was their second time and our first time. The other family loves the chicken parm. I was expecting a long wait, but we got lucky and immediately sat down. Table of 9. Waitress was pretty good. And, I thought she was friendly. After setting the table, she brought out a ton of bread loafs.... More

Finally made the trip up from home (the Jersey Shore) to the old neighborhoods...Newark, Elizabeth, East Orange... As part of this trip down memory lane my dear friend talked us into a visit to Spiritos Restaurant/Pizzeria in Elizabeth. I was warned...it's old, drab, the waitresses can be interesting, no butter for your bread, BUT THE RAVIOLIS ARE SPECIAL. All true!... More

After eating here for 40 years, it is time to tell you that about Spirito's in Elizabeth, NJ. They have ravioli and sausage, that melts in your mouth. It is unreal. You get red wine or white wine. Yup, red or white. chianti. - what do you'se want? is the dinner question. The restaurant opened in 1932, and some of... More

I've been going there like most who enjoy this place for years. Has to be something special or it wouldn't be there since 1932. Don't get there as often as I would like but it always special when I do. The sauce, The Veal Cutlet, Ravioli and Pizza....left overs are better than something just made anywhere else. See you soon!
