Harold is probably the most well-known deli operator in the NY-NJ area. He knows how to make a great sandwich and his pastrami is some of the best around. His sandwiches are huge and therefore pricey. But, you get what you pay for..It's a place for people who enjoy big portions of really good deli and are willing to pay... more

This restaurant is listed twice, so I've posted this review in each. Harold (yes, there is an actual Harold) is noted for his extremely generous portions of everything. Sandwiches, burgers, potato pancakes, cakes and pastries are HUGE. If you can, be prepared to share your sandwich with 2 or even 3 friends. Or, if you can, take the leftovers home.... more

I went here once for a business lunch. I thought it would the ideal place to order a Reuben sandwich but when I saw the price (I believe it was close to $30) I could not allow myself to order it. I would be ashamed to have spent that much on a sandwich when presenting the receipt back at the... more

Was in staying in Edison this past week while on buiness. Decided to walk over to Harold's on Sunday night as there was not much else in the area. It was 7:40pm, crowded, yet the hostess said they were not seating anyone else for dinner. I then took a look at the takeout menu and was shocked by the prices.... more

AMAZINGLY sized sandwiches and desserts, pricey but if you share, it's not outrageous. Take the menu suggestions about how many ppl each sandwich feeds. Gets extremely crowded on weekends; try to go for lunch. more

Harold's was the worst dining experience I've ever had. The veggie burger was absolutely tasteless. I kept adding ingredients to it (mayo, ketchup, pickles, etc) to elicit any flavor, to no avail. I am not even a fussy eater, I eat frozen dinners and take-out routinely. The prices are reprehensible unless everyone wants to eat the same thing, which is... more

I have a love/hate relationship with Harold's. The food is good, but the portions are obscene. Pancakes the size of manhole covers, matzoh balls the size of volleyballs, and sandwiches that serve two (and leave leftovers for a week). It's a great place to take someone from out of town, or to break fast after Yom Kippur. more

If you want portions that go beyond generous, of high quality kosher deli style, this is the place for you. One of the things I always remember about this place was the desserts, which you see displayed on your way in. There will be a cake there that's larger than your head. No, I'm not kidding. If you order a... more
