Go for food, not service......................

Under new management, we decided to go. Calamari was fried & drained well. Caesar salad was good. Our friends pasta arrabiata was so-so. We found the veal frances a bit tough. Dessert of a cake very average. Service terrible- non-existent.

Food was fine...BUT.. upon seating when I showed my "Sorrento" gift certificate ($50.) which I received as a Christmas present.Beautiful greeting card style with beautiful photo of Italian painting with their Sorrento crest on the cover which matched the crest on my plate.(expiration Dec.2015).I was told they were new owners and would not honor the gift card. They told me to... Italian food is very poplular and for cause. Italian restaurants in new jersey are as common as dandelion in new jersey. Exceptional Italian like a well manicure lawn for summer takes consistent work Sorrento is quiet intimate and true upscale delcious Italian. Another must eat place to be good to yourself.

Three of us dined at Sorrento Ristorante 4/11/15. We had been to this restaurant many times and enjoyed everything about it. the food was always great. We were there at 7 pm. The restaurant had a handful of people. What we did not know was it was sold to new owners. Our server came to our table and went on... More

Visited Sorrento, one of our favorite Italian restaurants this past weekend & noticed immediately that something drastic had happened. As it turned out the owners ( David & Pasqualina Bikoff) had sold the restaurant to the current property owners recently who had just re-opened the restaurant 3 days earlier. They probably should have waited until they had a full staff... More

Sorrento is definitely one of the better Italian restaurants in Bergen County. Beautifully appointed & serving excellent food this restaurant employs a staff of professional, tuxedo clad waiters one of which may occasionally break into singing classic Italian songs or operatic arias. And on occasion there might be live music by a guitar playing singer.

This place is like the good old days; one you want to go back to and get to know the owner and people working there. Personally, I love byob - spend money on good food and service, not ridiculously marked up vino. Dominic is the maitre'D and very welcoming and service oriented. You want solid italian food go here. We would not have found this gem without TripAdvisor. Just like another reviewer, they went out and got us a bottle of wine. My wife had Pasta e Fazool and Pappardella. She enjoyed every bite. I had Calamari, which was just okay, and Fusilli, which was out of this world. If we are ever in East Rutherford again we will... More

Fellow at a local liquor store sent us here for a late dinner after a long flight from the west coast. Didn't realize it was BYOB (he could have mentioned it and sold us a bottle), but one of the lovely men on the staff offered to run to a corner store and bought a decent bottle at our request.... The staff were all old school gentlemen. Very accommodating and polite. Nice traditional Italian decor. My dish was ok. I had chicken Marsala and vegetables sauce was a little tasty but chicken was a bit tough. Veggies were good. My mother commented that her dish was a bit tough as well. My girl had salmon in a delicious bourbon sauce.... More
