They give you a lot of food for your order. However, if you go during a Saturday it tends to get pretty busy in the morning and lunch time hours.
First off I'd consider this place to be more than just a diner. The food quality was great and the staff were on point, very friendly. There is plenty of parking outside and the menu selection is very nice. The only thing I don't like about Tops is that, you're not allowed to enter the establishment with any food or... More
Creeping prices, slightly above average food. Service can range from awesome to terrible depending on day of week, server, server's mood. Was walking distance from where we stayed, so went a few times. Wouldn't say stay away, but it was acceptable.
A little hard to find but worth the effort. There is ample parking and a nice menu. It has a great variety of items and the waiter was very accommodating to my daughter in law who is very allergic to gluten. Her tuna dish was beautiful and delicious.
This was one of my favorite newark go-to restaurants. Visited over the weekend and for the first time was disappointed. Lobster bisque tasted watery with what seemed like artificial seafood bits in the broth. Ordered a Cesar salad with Shrimp - received a Greek salad which I sent back. Correct salad arrived 2 minutes later (not sure how?? - but... More
Just WOW. what a fantastic place. Staff, service, surroundings and of course the food. All 10/10. Staying just down the road and visited three nights out of the five while in NJ. Feel like I have put on 2 stone. The food is top notch. We had burgers, chicken, pasta, pizza. Can't fault a thing. Cheesecake was immense. (the portions... More
Our hotel down the street recommended Tops for a late night dinner (open until 1:00 am on weekdays and 4:00 am on weekends). It was a short walk beside a very industrial area on the water but safe. We were told that Tops was voted the best diner in New Jersey and I can believe it. There is a huge... More
Work near Tops. It is always a good spot to eat. Never had a bad meal yet. Love the Salmon and also the Burgers (Sliders). Staff goes over and above to please. If you are near here for any reason, stop and eat.
We were staying at the Hampton Inn Riverwalk just down the street and this diner was in walking distance. We would have been happy with mediocre food in such close proximity to our hotel, but we were happily surprised by the delicious food and HUGE selection! Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen such a huge menu selection! The service... More
To refer to Tops as a 'diner' can be seen as a 'disservice.' I understand the incredible variety of food fits the name, but it is the quality of the food and the staff that takes this 'diner' out of its traditional category and bumps its very close to 'fine dinning'. The food is top notch, its just that simple.... More
