I have been going to Tops for almost 30 years and it has always been a top-notch diner and I considered it the best in NJ. In fact, even after I moved to upper Bergen County I continued going here. My family and I were there last week and it has gone down in both service and food. I ordered... More

Went to Tops for the second time recently. If you're looking for a great, authentic Jersey diner experience this is a good place. The food is good and the portions are plentiful. The cheesecakes are amazing. What I did have a problem with was the lack of cleanliness. The table we were seated at had a greasy film to it.... More

I go to Newark every year for 4 days and eat here at least twice each visit. The food is fast tgo arrive very good and Great portions. I had the English Fish and Chips tonight which included a bowl of new England clam chowder. Within minutes the chowder arrived. Shortly after I finished that the rest of the food... More

Ok, so I think the title says it all. The food is wonderful, especially their humongous steaks (didn't think too much about their Chicken pot pie). The place is loud, the service is average and the waiting time for seating is TOO LONG. Their drinks are very well proportioned and good for the price too. I really like their white... More

You will not be disappointed. We were at EWR and the hotel didn't have good food. I found Tops Diner using TripAdvisor. Great find!!! It was so good that we went two days in a row before going to AC. We are already planning on stopping again on the way to NYC. Everything on the menu and surrounding tables looked... More

This place was recommended by some friends in Jersey. I must say when I pulled up, I was about to leave. Quite possibly, one of the shadiest neighborhoods in the state. I was really hungry so decided to take my chances..lol Saw a long line which was a good sign, but decided to sit at the bar...Incredibly busy place which... More

Tops Diner sucked the night we were there (30 Dec 2013). Loud, pounding club music made conversation and digestion difficult. Good burger, but I was thrilled to finally leave. Very disappointed.

This restaurant has huge portions, huge burgers and awesome desserts. Great place to bring the family. Made a dreary day bright.

Hands down the best dining experience in/around Newark. Everything is amazing, though the spaghetti sauce is a little weak. Their macaroni is to die for, the burgers thick and juicy, the salads huge, the spinach artichoke dip is HEAVENLY and the prices are super reasonable. I highly recommend "dining on top!" *there is almost always a line, but you usually... More

This is the best diner in NJ. It's close to the Prudential Center, NNPAC, and downtown Newark. Perfect place to have dinner before a show.
