Authentic, if a little stodgy

This is authentic Chinese food. I heard they bring in chefs direct from China every year. My favs are the cold sesame noodle, hot and sour soup and mu shu pork which they wrap at the table. The place tends to be very quiet and reserved, at least at lunch. But it is miles above take out.

You think Chinese food is similar---you can't be more wrong. My husband and I have eaten here many times. Each time we try something different. We have NEVER, EVER been disappointment. The service is outstanding. We still ask for suggestions because the menu has so much to offer. If you want something hotter or not so hot, it is prepared... More

We really enjoyed our recent visit to Chengdu 46. Everything we ordered was very good. The atmosphere is elegant, and it adds to the ambiance of the meal. The service is also quite attentive, which helps make an overall delightful dining experience.

Without a doubt, Chengdu 46 has the best Chinese food in the tri-state area! The careful hand of the chefs in the kitchen using different fresh spices and oils make each dish distinct. When we want terrific Chinese food, we go to Chengdu 46. The one thing that has changed in the last year or so is that they no... More

We have been going to Cheng Du for over 25 years and although it may have slipped a biot since the early days it is still the only place we go when we want Pekjing Duck....this is their signature dish and still the best you can get anywhere.....it is prepared in the old country tradition and carved and plated tableside... I was really anxious to eat at Chendgu 46, read so much about the gourmet Chinese food. So finally went for dinner and was not impressed as I hoped to be. The food was very good, better than take out but not like I was led to believe by the reviews. We did not order the standards, we ordered the... More

the GOOD.. service attentive... food has distinct tastes to all the dishes and not awash in tasteless sauces like many Chinese restaurants. More expensive than most other Chinese but worth the cost for the tastier dishes. Peking Duck ($42 for two) is always very good NOT so good... food quality and taste has diminished in the last few years, all... More

We had Sunday lunch here. If you like duck, and good food eat here. This is not cheap Chinese food, so don't expect to eat on a budget. It is fine dining with tableside service and an tasty wine list. The perfectly cooked duck is carved and presented to your table by experienced staff. The whole fried fish is filleted... More

Chengdu 46 is consistently delicious while affordable within an elegant dining atmosphere. It is a treat if you want Chinese cuisine that is presented by gracious, old world staff at a relaxed yet (lovely) formal table. Great for the family or a romanic dinner. I especially like the cold sesame noodles and any vegetable dish!
