As the name implies this place serves fresh crab. In fact, I rate their crab cakes the best in New Jersey! Everyone says their crab cakes have little filler; this place uses almost none. Their menu features a wide range of seafood. I had the grouper and it was perfect. Their wine list is moderately priced and their service is... More

We were sitting in the pool of our home at 4:45 P M. When Art said to me, "you know what I could eat right now--some Cape May Salts." I asked if he wanted to go to one of a few spots close by that served them, but in response he said they are all too expensive and not always... More

Ate here years ago and had a good time so I am not sure why I didn't go back until now. Perhaps it is because though it is located in Cape May it isn't actually in town. It is between the Cape May bridge and Cape May. That is actually a good thing because they have a parking lot which... More

My wife and I went for our annual sojourn to Axelsson's Blue Claw and once again were wowed. We started out in their spectacular bar where we had a drink and split a 1/2 dozen Delaware Bay oysters which were excellent. (we tend to like smaller cold water oysters from Cape Cod and north) Then we were seated and proceeded... More

We loved it so much we went back our last night. Our waiters Brendan and John were wonderful, everything from start to finish was delicious and the atmosphere was so relaxing. It's a bit deceiving from the outside. We had first thought it would be more of a pub but was pleasently surprised once we got inside. Oh and If... More

Axelsson's website claims that "Axelsson's Blue Claw Restaurant is a handsome, waterfront dining spot with luxurious European ambiance." As the saying goes, "It ain't bragging, if it's true". And it is true. Even though we have lived not far from Axelsson's for years, we had never tried it because it was somewhat out of the way in terms of Cape... More

I chose Axelsson’s for Cape May Restaurant week because I felt the menu was the best of those advertised. Upon informing my family, they told me to call first as the restaurant looks overrun by weeds and they thought perhaps they had closed. Axelsson’s is indeed open and the dining areas are quite nice (quite surprising considering their outside image).... More

My husband and I selected this restaurant as part of Cape May's Restaurant Week. I have lived in this County for almost 60 years and sadly had never eaten here. We had a reservation, but found we could arrive earlier than expected - it was no problem to change the time. The maître-d' was very pleasant and accommodating. Once inside... More

Stopped in as soon as they opened for the 1/2 price prussian pearls, the best darn oyster appetizer this side of Prussia. Plumb, cold, fresh as can be oysters, a touch of vodka, an artistic swirl of cream cheese, a dollop of red caviar, and a small rectangle of red onion to crown this king of appetizers. If you love... We were traveling between Wildwood Crest and Cape May to head back to our hotel and decided, due to the time, to stop into Axelsson's for dinner. It would have been too late to go back to the hotel, get ready for dinner and then head back out as most places would have a long wait by then. We pulled... More
