We weren't blue that we ate here!

Very good food. Had oysters called Prussian Pearls( served with a drop of caviar, piece of red onion and sour cream). Beautifully presented in a metal clam-shaped shell with lots of ice. Then large, delicious soft shell crabs which were a special, but we wouldn't have found out about them if one of... read more

Atmosphere is great - love the decor in the pub. Will sit by the fire next time. Raw Oysters were dry and appeared to have been opened long before they were served to us. Disappointment because the night before we had awesome Oysters at another Cape May venue. Lemon Drop Martini was made well and the Shrimp Flatbread Pizza was... More

Our yearly trips for the past 30 years always included Blue Claw Restaurant. It was our secret and we didn't want to share it with friends. We took our kids there this summer and they were surprised that we hid it from them. Tall Ship room was our favorite. It's clean and food and service are great

My husband and I ate here the last weekend in September for our anniversary celebration. We arrived about 1/2 hour before our reservation to have a cocktail at the bar. It is the most beautiful bar! There is plenty of seating at tables as well as at the bar. They were having a special on the Oysters ($1. a piece)... More

After being summer residents of Cape May County for 20 some years, we finally got around to dining at the Blue Claw. We started with the Happy Hour in the Pub for oysters on the half shell. Delicious! We tried the Prussian Pearls and the half shells. Both were delicious and the presentation was fantastic. We then moved to the... More

We visit Axelsson's every year for Happy Hour. The half price selections are terrific. The raw oysters are so fresh you can still taste the ocean in them. Other items are available like clams and shrimp, and there are more options like fish tacos, etc. Wine and drink prices are reduced as well. The dinner menu is VERY expensive, and... More

Based on all of the reviews, we thought this was worth the try. The sign in the parking lot of plenty of parking was the first tell when there were also plenty of empty spots. The restaurant itself is beautiful. After that our experience was not good. It was like being in a library - no music - lots of... More

Oysters were good- but $3.45 refills for tea and soda that were mainly I've? Overpriced all around for a family- looked like it was just retired folk there- won't return~

We have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. They have the best crab cakes in New Jersey. I always start with oysters on the half shell. The breads served with the meal are wonderful. The atmosphere and the service are as good as the food. Even though it is a bit off the beaten path, this... More

Went to Axelsson's for their Raw Bar specials, which is 5:00 to 6:30.......We sat in the pub area which was very nice, lots of wood and classy seashore decor.....The barmaid Shannon was excellent, very friendly and attentive......The oysters are the draw here, half price during this time frame.......excellent, served a few different ways and very cold...We had fish tacos and...
