Quaint restaurant, excellent food, wonderful staff.

We had an intimate dinner at this superb restaurant. We were greeted by a young man, seated immediately, and water and bread/butter promptly put on the table. Small, quaint, and always good food. Service for the most part is always good, could be slow at times, but I have never been disappointed by this location.

The lunch offerings at Fred's are made with a flare to be somewhat different than the ordinary. Their salads and soup are wholesome and different. The menu is varied with seafood, vegetable and meat dishes with health in mind and they are very fresh. The ambiance and atmosphere is very simple and plain. And some of the spaces are small... The whole BYOB was new to us in NJ but fine with us We had the seafood bisque - not great and the mussels which were tasty(salty) but when you put under the broiler to melt the cheese you are drying out the mussels some were charred. The apps were a disappointment, we were ready to leave. We decided to... More

We had dinner at Freda's Cafe and expected a wonderful meal, based on other reviews and the enthusiasm of our server. The decor is homey and comfortable and cozy, it has a nice feel. It is a small space. Our server was informative, helpful, and efficient. My husband ordered the seafood bisque, which he said was very good. I had... More

Let me preface this by saying that i have been to freda's a few times and always loved it, but after this last time I will never go back and it truly is a shame. My family has a house in cape may so when a bunch of us were in town for the Christmas parade we decided to go... More

There are many good restaurants in Cape May but my husband and I never miss eating in Freda's. We have never experienced a bad meal and the service has always been friendly. It's a very small restaurant so during the busier months reservations are suggested.

Nice intimate cafe near the shopping mall. We go there for lunch a lot. We like there fresh salads and whole grain breads. Nice healthy lunch and home made soups. Great for a winter day. It is small, so it can be a little crowded. Service is good, and food is fresh and hot. Diner Don gives it Thumbs up!

We have been walking past this restaurant on our visits to Cape May for years and can't believe we have been missing this delicious food. Went to Freda's with the Cape May Food Tours and had the most delicious Crab Focaccia we have ever had. It is obvious everything is homemade and the taste was amazing!! The atmosphere was nice... We were in Cape May last week, and this cafe was recommended to us. The food was good, although I had some trouble finding a dish that truly appealed to me. The service was fine, but the space was incredibly tight on a Friday night, and the decibel level was way higher than I was happy with. The table next... More
