Cape May Victorian Dinner

Food was good, delicious crab and stuffed fish....old world Victorian atmosphere. Restaurant a little on the dark side, lighting wise. Generous wine pour from the bar prior to dinner. Winning combination in Cape May. Reservations a must. Wait time wasn't bad even though we arrrived at 7:30 p.m... read more

We have been going to the Merion Inn for over 30 years. I felt that in the past few years it had started to slip (thankfully the apple butter has returned) but it is now the Merion Inn I remember. Can't beat the early bird specials - our glazed salmon and chicken franchese with potato cups were just delicious. I... More

We went here for our anniversary. The meal was slow paced, as we had requested, leisurely, and accompanied by a live pianist. The food was first rate, both presentation and presentation.

Our parents dragged us to the stately Merion Inn in Cape May when we were kids, and we had to get dressed up and eat in a "dark restaurant." Today, my parents and my kids come along happily to a place that is still stately, but less formal than in years past. Yes, the rooms reflect Cape May charm and... More

We have visited Cape May every year for 28 years now and never miss visiting the Merion Inn. This year we dined here three times and were rewarded each time with a delicious meal. The staff here are warm and attentive and the entertainment provided by the piano player made our evening even better. The Valet parking that's offered is... More

Outdated and tired. Simply put this restaurant was very disappointing. Was looking forward to a nice family meal, and ended up wishing we had gone somewhere else. Sat in the front enclosed patio which was our request. The floors and benches felt tilted and uncomfortable. Menu was classic shore fare, but even the specials seemed outdated, not with the times,... This is one of the most romantic restaurants I've ever been to. I especially like having dinner there in the cold weather months when they are open - like Christmas when it's so cozy and beautifully decorated. When I look around I like to imagine what kind of people in the past occupied this space and what their stories were.... More

Extensive menu with many choices for seafood lovers. We were seated promptly at a table in the bar area where we were entertained by the piano player. Service is good and the food is always consistent. My husband had the early bird dinner and I had a lobster dish. The meal along with the salads were delicious. Make a reservation... More

Not used to going to the "early bird special"..... but 4 of us went and 3 tried this offering... we all had the porkchop and it was delicious; We all commented that sometimes a "special" is skimpy.......but this was a large beautiful porkchop....done as requested w/scallion potatoes (much tastier than their "cup of potatoes") and a vegetable. Other choices were... More
