We usually count our Mad Batter breakfast as one of the highlights of out extended families annual Cape May vacation. This year was different. My son had a filthy glass, some of the silverware was dirty, the food was just okay and the 3 out of 10 of us that ate blueberry pancakes for breakfast spent the rest of the... more

The last day of vacation this past weekend and we walked down to the Mad Batter for breakfast. I had read reviews and was sure we would have a long wait to eat here. Well - we were seated right away - and in the back in the garden! It was a gorgeous room opening up to a garden -... more

Ate here over Memorial Day weekend. Great location. We sat on the front porch overlooking Jackson Street, a very attractive street lined with well-restored Victorian buildings. This seems to be a very popular breakfast spot. There were quite a few people waiting for tables when we arrived, but we were seated in less than 5 minutes. The menu was varied,... more

This is simply a delightful dining experience. The staff treats you like a long lost friend and cater to your every whim. The atmosphere is whimsical and fun. We ate on the Sun Porch and at the Garden Terrace. The food is great..lots of different choices along with the old favorite ones. Parking is a bit of a stretch..but, hey,... more

We just went to the Mad Batter for the first time late last year. The name had always made me think that the place was a mid-range restaurant with lots of batter fried food. The name clearly fooled me. The high-end menu features fantastic although expensive food. You can sit on the porch, where tables are packed tightly together, and... more

We, a family of four, went here for dinner. There was a jazz band playing. The leader saw my daughter and played "Baa Baa Black Sheep" for her. We made reservations so we could be seated near the music. We could hear the band, but unfortunately they played at the bar and the view was blocked by a partition. Nonetheless,... more

Stopped in on a Friday afternoon for late lunch and convinced ourselves we needed a bite of dessert, too. The vegetarian sandwich was so great, I can't believe I had room for a bite of the recommended strawberry rhubarb pie, but I did, and it was so wonderful I was craving it the rest of the weekend. Don't miss this... more

My husband any myself went to back to the Mad Batter after not dining there for quite some time. When we used to go all of the time, We knew the staff and they knew us. I was asking for my favorite server (who hardly was waiting tables last time we were there) but who had been promoted to Asst... more

This is definitly a great place to grab lunch- it is nice yet casual, and the food is great. The crab cakes are my favorite. It has gotten a little more expensive over the past few years since it is more touristy now, but it is worth it. I've never gone for dinner but it seems to me more like... more
