Food snobs stay home

The less than enthusiastic reviews I see from DC and NYC folks don't worry me. We have been coming back to Louisa's for a decade, to enjoy fresh fish cooked properly, served with a smile in a small room where conversation is possible. You can even talk to the neighboring table if you wish. I... read more

We stumbled upon this gem on the way to a restaurant that is closed so we came back and glad we did. Chalkboard menu based on fresh ingredients available that day. Fish was amazing and good portions. The BYOB was also welcomed with a liquor store just around the corner. They even has a vegan dish for my wife. Service... More

My companion wanted fresh fish...something you think would be easy to find in a seaside resort area. It wasn't. We spotted Louisa's and decided to give it a try. Fortunately, when we called for reservations, they informed us of the BYOB and no credit card limitations. These 2 are always a red flag and quite unwelcome. Strike 1. On the... More

Really liked our dinner here. Mostly locally caught fish. There were a few items on the menu but each was very delicious. Had shrimp with a lemon BBQ that was really good. It was byob and was a very reasonably priced dinner. Would recommend!!

Louisa's was recommended to us as a good place for vegetarians. There were not a lot of options, but there were a few. We had the carrot sweet potato soup which was great. The bread was excellent (and warm). I had the pasta which wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked. My husband had the vegetable cakes, which I... More

BYOB with a direct from farm type menu eccletic offerings. Server (Karen) was great and the Bluefish the other couple with us, was very good. We had Vegetable Cakes which were nothing special. The cabbage salad that accompanied the meal was a nice change from cole slaw and very good. I have a feeling most people will experience a "hit... More

The restaurant is very cute, and we had some good appetizers (especially the soup). However, we got four different entrees, and they all came out looking exactly the same. Quick sauteed fish served over brown rice and a vinegar/cabbage slaw. I actually enjoyed the slaw, as I hate mayonnaise drenched ones. However, for ~25/entree, a few small pieces of fish... More

Our group of 4 dined at Louisa’s on a Saturday night in November. The restaurant is very small, only about 7 or 8 tables and the atmosphere was cozy however I was disappointed in the overall experience. Service was basically non-existent. They have a corkscrew on the table for opening wine and the 1st time we saw our server was... More

A cozy eccentric dining experience! Food is fresh, fresh, fresh - the sweet potato, carrot and apple soup was delicious - just thick enough with a balance of sweet and spicy. The crabcakes were bite-size cakes accompanied by a cucumber dill sauce - refreshing and nice counterbalance from the sweet potato soup. Our party decided to each order a different... More

Love this place! Salmon was done just right and the slaw was perfect! Only sorry we left no room for dessert!
