Description: The Blue Pig Tavern serves American cuisine-nostalgic, simple and fresh. Executive Chef Jeremy Einhorn has implemented a delicious farm-to-table menu featuring fresh produce, herbs and eggs from our very own Beach Plum Farm, located less than 2 miles from the restaurant! In the warmer months, dine on our wonderful, secluded patio. In the cooler months, cozy up to our magnificent dining room fireplace. The Blue Pig Tavern drives its name from a gambling parlor sited at Congress Hall in the mid 1800's. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May.

We visited while in Cape May this Columbus Holiday. Host was not very friendly. Food, well, we all ordered sandwiches with fries. The Reuben had very little corned beef and almost no sauerkraut. The fries accompanying each order were cold. The coffee had so many grounds floating in the cup it was not drinkable. The waitress did not pay attention... More

Appetizer of homemade nachos and guacamole was very good. Entrees we ordered were swordfish and mama meatloaf. The swordfish was cooked to perfection. The meatloaf was good, but was missing something. Cannot put my finger on it. Wine list was adequate, our chosen Pinot Noir was very good. For dessert, the key lime pie is a must, while the pumpkin... More

Great history, good draft beer (IPA), but dumbed down dishes despite so called farm fresh ingredients from the Congress Hall's sister establishment Beach Plum Farm. The normal burgers were excellent, the bun rather ordinary and the french fries soggy - the veggie burger was a solid black bean and lentil job, unexciting at best. Pity because the surroundings are cozy,... More

The restaurant has a very nostalgic feeling about it without being old fashioned or stuffy. There is a very polite waitstaff and a nicely varied menu. Extremely fresh ingredients supplied by a local farm and very fresh seafood contributes to the high quality of the food. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and it was delicious.

Boutique style renovation of this troubled old hotel finally gets it right but service needs work. A nice mix of trendy design incorporating grand Victorian details for a comfortable and inviting atmosphere, this is a serious style upgrade for Cape May and seems very popular. I have been to The Blue Pig Tavern several times and it has always been... More

A bit quirky and a menu specializing in local fare with a delightful atmosphere, fun ,lively and also romantic, very good service and large portions..that was our experience. This is someplace a bit different than other Cape May dining spots, and a welcomed departure .

It is a tavern and is dark and very noisy. We asked to be seated inside as it was a very cool and breezy evening. Inside the fireplace added to the ambiance and that was nice. Our waiter was a little difficult to understand and hear as it was very noisy. But he was attentive and food and drinks came... More

Right now I don't remember what I ordered - I do remember that two in our party ordered the salmon and it was quite good. It was quite crowded. The atmosphere brings memories of the old style hotel - it was great.

We stopped at the Blue Pig for lunch on a beautiful Cape May fall afternoon. We decided to eat at one of the many outdoor tables. It was not crowded on the end of the season day. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. We both started with the chowder which was tasty. We had the macaroni and cheese which was... More

The space was interesting and decorated in a very trendy way, but I thought the food was just ok, and I wasn't particularly impressed with the drinks either. It was a bit loud and cramped for my taste. We ordered the two steak dishes on the menu, and they were presented in a very attractive way but other than that... More
