I had dined here years ago and found it cozy and romantic. What happened ??? They try to fit too many tables in their restaurant . I felt like the cattle which was served to me! We arrived early for our reservation and waited way past our reservation time, I t was clear they overbooked. When finally seated,we were placed in... More

This was our second time dining at the Washington Inn and it is still the best fine dining restaurant in Cape May. As an appetizer we shared the panzanella salad that was made with the freshest jersey tomatoes. My husband enjoyed the seafood cioppino which was plentiful for a seafood lover. I ordered the branzino special that was so moist... More

The restaurant at the Washington Inn is a bit of a hike from the main town in Cape May, but on a nice night it is worth the walk. The food is excellent and the presentation is superb. The ambiance is fine although the decor is looking a bit worn - kid of like grandma's house if you know what... More

I could go on forever regarding our experience. I will just say that we made a reservation, and were assured of the time and dining room preference . Upon arrival we were told that room was booked for a private party ( something we were not told when making the reservation, they also had our phone number) . When we... More

Beginning the evening at the charming bar with an excellent mixologist pouring Beach Plum Martinis. Unique and prepared with great skill - delicious. We all enjoyed the bisque but entrees were among our best meals EVER. The duck served with mushroom bread pudding and black berry sauce was phenomenal as was the rack of lamb. Service by Adam was perfect.... More

I dined at The Washington Inn last night with a group of six. All the food was delicious, but the service went above and beyond what I would ever expect. Our waiter, Jimmy, was extremely helpful in answering questions about which dishes would be best to order and in being attentive to our table. However, he really distinguished himself when... More

Visiting this restaurant brings back memories of "back in the day "charm. The service was unobtrusive and refined. We shared the port poached fig appetizer which was graciously served on two plates and delicious. We also ordered entrees of rack of lamb and NY strip steaks. Both were served as ordered and very enjoyable Drinks were generous pours and the... More

The Washington Inn is a very special place. On the day we arrived, someone told us we should go there for a local beach plum martini, which is one of their specialties. It was too early to check in, so we walked the few blocks to the restaurant. As we entered, two people greeted us. We told them about being... More

First let me start off by saying this is the first time I have ever taken the time to write a review after many years of traveling with a family up and down the east coast. We are visiting Cape May, New Jersey for the first time after many years at other shore resorts. We have absolutely adored this town... More

I always have a great meal here! Never disappointed. There are always special depending on the season. Great seafood and fish as well as steaks, lamb and duck. And don't forget the chocolate tower! Great place for a special occasion or just having a great dinner! And great wine list. The new wine bar is intimate and cozy.
