We have visited Cape May for many years and always seemed to end up eating at the Ugly Mug. However, we decided to try The Pilot House this year and we were pleasantly surprised! Unlike the "Mug" which is dark and noisy, this place is bright and very comfortable. We did eat at an early time -- 5:00 pm and... More

Worth a visit for drinks or to watch the game. Have visited several times just for drinks and always a fun and interesting crowd at the bar. Recent renovations, not sure I like the new look.

Had dinner here. Delicious plentiful salads and dressings and NE Clam Chowder. Great burger, char broiled black angus. Nice atmosphere and attentive service.

Coming in the atmosphere was ok. White walls and wooden tables, nothing special. We ordered with the waitress and she forgot our appetizer. Both our food and drinks came out with extended time. The waitress seemed like she was on autopilot. When asked for a1 we had to ask again and many responses seemed artificial. I think there are much... More

Last summer while in Cape May I read the outside menu for the Pilot House and having already had lunch, knew I would be back next summer to eat the dish I saw and wanted. So a year later me and a friend walk in for lunch. The place was empty. Not a single person at the bar and no... More

I ate here a few nights ago with my mom and we did not have a good experience. We had to awkwardly wait at the hostess podium as the two hostesses argued about something at the computer. They did not even acknowledge our presence or welcome us to the restaurant. After being sat at a table, the service was extremely... More

Hit the pilot house on a recommendation. Food was good ; steamers and fried camaro for apps both were good. Dinner was shrimp tacos and a salmon dish over rabes and red peppers. No complaints about the food, the service was slow and somewhat innatentive.

It used to be good but now new owners took it over and it is terrible now. We went 2 other times last year it was great but something happened on August 19th 2014. It was 4:30pm and we (only 2 of us) walked in, there was only about 5 people at the bar and NO ONE sitting at tables... More

This restaurant/bar is one of many places to eat in Cape May, and certainly along the Washington Street Mall. While I have no problem with the other restaurants, I just want to suggest the Pilot House as a possibility when you're visiting. It's just off Washington Street, and the atmosphere is family-oriented, even though there's a bar in the restaurant.... More

A good bartender is worth their weight in gold. Excellent drinks! I ordered a simple cocktail and they made me a healthy one. :) I had fish combo with pasta, Excellent! Heard they are making changes this winter, can't wait to return next summer! Susan H
