Better than average nice family run restaurant year round in Cape May

It is not easy finding year round restaurants in Cape May so if you like Mexican food, this is worth trying. Everything we have had there is found on other Mexican restaurant menus but done a little better here.

Last Saturday evening my wife, son and I were deciding what to do for dinner and we all finally agreed on some Mexican food. It had been a while since dining at 5deMayo and we hoped it was still a winner. Some of the most recent reviews were mixed about the restaurant but we still wanted to give it a... More

We thought we would give this a try, was going to be a new place. I read some poor reviews on here. Decided to give it a try anyway. I was VERY pleased that we went for diner. Food was excellent!!! Nothing at all like the food back home. I also ordered something different so I wasn't comparing it to... More

My husband, daughter and I showed up at 6pm on a Thursday night, had to seat ourselves because there was no waitress waiting. After waiting 20 mins, we had to ask for chips n salsa, then at the hour and 50 min mark when there was STILL no food coming out, we finally cut our losses and left. Horribly understaffed... More

I read mixed reviews about this place but we decided to try it out anyway. It was a 5 minute drive from our hotel and we didn't want to spend another $150 on dinner so we tried it out. This is a b.y.o.b place, which was a little disappointing since we were expecting sangria or something similar. We were greeted... More

Drove past this place numerous times and never stopped. Finally, one night a few of my friends and I decided to go. Thrilled we did. Complimentary chips and salsa were very good. We each got something different, either chicken dishes or seafood. First time in a while thst all six of us were happy eith our meal. Personally recommend the... More

You know it's pretty good Mexican food when there's Mexican people eating here! Just saying! We got the nachos, totally amazing, we were stuffed before our meals even arrived because the nachos were piled high with chicken beans lettuce and the guac is to die for! We will be back. Don't be afraid of this little hole in the wall!

Our first night in Cape May we wanted some Mexican food so we found this place. A little small but cute. Had a fireplace in the center of the room which would be nice in the winter time. They were quick to bring us drinks, FYI it's BYOB, so no alcohol sold. Brought us chips over with 2 different salsas,... More

Visited on a Sunday night. There were a few other families there when we entered and were seated promptly and had our complimentary chips and salsa in no time. The Wife and I are big fans of Mexican food and this place did not disappoint. The menu is extensive and relatively cheap for the amount of food you receive. I... More

The restaurant calls itself Cinco de Mayo and not 5 de Mayo. It is located on the highway into Cape May before it becomes Lafayette Street. We were the only ones there at first and later another couple and a family appeared. Otherwise, the restaurant was empty with a lot of tables without people's yet, the food took a very... More
