Great service, great atmosphere. A bit pricey but the food was excellent. You don't mind paying more if the meal was worth it. It was...totally worth it. It's the first time we've been there and we've been going to Beach Haven for several years. We will definitely go back to the Black Whale!

Go here for happy hour. The mussels are to die for, the rest of the happy hour munchies are very good. Get there early, happy hour starts at three P.M. It gets crowded but the bartenders keep things moving. So glad this place survived superstorm Sandy.

One of the most popular restaurants at the Southern end of LBI. We eat there regularly - and have found it to be outstanding every time. Starting with the appetizers and the salad (HINT - use a plastic cup found on the table and mix the two dressings!) to the always fresh fish. Rarely have room for dessert - but... More

I tried to make reservation for this restaurant three consecutive days before we were finally able to get in. I even called at repeatedly at 1130 am as the instructions indicated and when I finally got through at 1215 I was told they could take no more reservations that day. It would be helpful to have more than one line... More

We had liked what we read about this place, and wanted to go here, but the wait was just too long for a dripping porch. Reservations would be nice for smaller groups.

The food is excellent. Great variety of alcohol and knowledgeable, personality plus bartenders. That said, expect a long wait; they don't take reservations. The bar is very crowded and very noisy. It is even hard to get a seat at the bar. On one visit this year we said we'd take first available and were seated at one of the... More

The food and service are great, however, they do not accept reservations and the wait is usually quite long for dinner.

Very busy seafood place on LBI. Expect long waits (it seems both for a table and for food). The quality is good, prices high (like the rest of LBI), and service was very slow. Almost funny - the steak and lobster tail combo was over $70 - haven't seen a $70+ entree in NYC lately!!!! Appetizers were very small portions... More

Casual friendly place with great food and a great staff. Worth the wait which was supposed to be 45 minutes was less than 20.

We recently spent a week on LBI and was fortunate to dine at the Black Whale twice... We were warn that this popular spot usually has a wait but with a full bar and a porch life could be worse... Our first visit was late Sunday night & we went with a bunch of appetizers. We had this amazing Maryland chowder;... More
