At first you see it and it doesn't look promising but give it a try. I liked the escargots and had veal that was so tender it melted in your mouth.

Recently, we celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday at Cafe Andre. We called ahead as we were a party of 10. We had a terrific meal. There was many dishes to choose from. The specials that night included grilled lamb chops, veal medallions, cod, and several others that all appealed. I ordered the lamb chops, very yummy, and the soup de jour.... More

I have dined on two recent occasions at this restaurant. The atmosphere is spartan, the decor dreary, there few if any other guests and on both occasions it was extremely cold. The second visit our complaints of cold resulted in portable heaters being arranged round our table, to limited effect! The single waitress and the chef were both bundled up... More

I was told to make a reservation but did not and just stopped by for a drink. After talking with the chef at the bar I asked if he felt like cooking as the dining room was empty that early evening. He said sure and I said he could cook anything he felt like. What a treat!! I cannot remember... More

My husband and I had dinner at Cafe Andre on a recent Sunday evening. There aren't very many restaurants open in this area on Sunday evenings in late October, so there wasn't really a lot of choice in the matter. Fortunately, we called ahead of time to make a reservation, because these folks really want you to do that, even... More

Six of us visited Andre's recently for their advertised fixed price French Menu meal. There were about 5 choices of entres and also salads, soups, etc, plus dessert. Everyone had a wonderful meal. It was a real value for the price. It was not busy since it was a Wednesday in September before Leaf Peeper season was in full swing.

On Saturday night (September 21, 2013), a group of us headed to Café André for dinner. A reservation had been made (highly recommended) and because there were twelve of us a special menu had been prepared by the chef. The choices were duck breast with a black cherry reduction, twin double-cut lamb chops, sword fish, and filet mignon. We were... More

Perhaps Cafe Andre does not look auspicious from the outside, but it would be a mistake NOT to stop here for dinner! I have been coming to the Sunapee area for years, and always make a point of having my dinner with Andre. I have never been disappointed, and have found Andre's cooking of consistent high quality. The food is... More

This place looks sort of like a hole in the wall. It's easy to drive right by it and think it's just a bar. (It actually has a great bar with dance floor and pool table and live music on Wednesday nights.) But on the other side of the place is a lovely, sort-of-French looking restaurant with a lower level... More

THE best kept secret in the surrounding area of Lake Sunapee is the fabulous French cuisine restaurant Cafe Andre, located on Rt 103, in Sunapee, NH! We have had two absolutely wonderful dinners there. Don't be put off by the ramshackle outward appearance of the restaurant. Once inside, it is a totally French restaurant as in Paris, with white linen... More
