Tradition renewed

My last time visiting before this week was the 1960's. Pollys' fame was already established then, from a beginning in the 1930's. Pancakes and waffles are still their forte, complete with true NH maple syrup (perhaps some from their own Hildex farm) and butter from Vermont's Cabot. They have moved... read more

With the nice new restaurant should come professional cooks, not the random waiter cooking the pancakes and the other food sitting, waiting and getting cold. Waitstaff trying to get trained, and cook, and serve, slows down whole operation, looks unprofessional, and makes for unhappy customers; If this place was running right, there would not be a wait on a rainy... I'm sure Polly's is spectacular, but we were unable to get in due to the long wait, over an hour. The staff recommended calling ahead; I certainly recommend doing that to shorten the wait time.

The owner of another business recommended us this place for breakfast. And she was right. If you are planning to go on a weekend, call in advance to add your name to the waiting list. When we arrived the waiting list was 45 minutes but in fact, after 15 minutes we got a table. I ordered the 3 pancakes (plain... More

Pollys sits on a hill overlooking Cannon Mountain, and is located in Sugar Hill, N.H. It is a beautiful site in the Fall with the New Hampshire foliage ablaze. As for the restaurant, it has been totally done over during the winter. Have not visited it since the redo but I plan to soon. From the pictures on their website... More

We are frequent visitors to this restaurant and were very disappointed when we went there this weekend to find that the old wonderful building has been replaced by a new modern building losing the uniqueness of this quaint traditional NH location. So sorry to see it happen and probably won't go there as much - food is good but the... More

Polly's has a lot of history! Recent renovation seats more patrons. Absolutely delicious breakfast, priced reasonably. Located in a picturesque setting.

This place was recommended to us so we had to try it. I guess they had 10 tables and just renovated and it now has 22 tables. No matter what time you go it is a long wait. We waited for an hour. They clean the tables off and reset them fast, but dont seem to fill the tables as... More

PPP is my closest next door neighbor, about 200 yards east of my home. During most of my life there has been Polly's next door: First under the management of Polly and Wilfred Dexter when I was a child, then owned/managed by Polly's daughter, Nancy Dexter Aldrich with her husband Roger Aldrich with whom I shared being a Selectman of... Polly's is a must stop. No doubt. I grew up in NH, and have been coming to Polly's every chance I can when I come back. The wait can be a bit, if you don't get there at an off time, but it is worth every minute. While you wait, you get to enjoy a truly dramatic vista of the... More
