Touristy But Worth Checking Out

The lobsta and steamers are excellent, other than that pretty average. The draw here is the touristy nature of eating on the salt marsh at picnic tables. You can BYOB too.

Every time in the area a detour for lunch or supper at Markey's is a must. This year from Lexington, Ma. we went to Seabrook (about 70 kilometers away) to taste the world famous lobster bisque and the boiled lobsters! Excellent as usual - Now opened only on week-end for the winter season

We try not to eat a lot of fried food and had already had our share at Brown's the previous day so we opted for steamers and lobsters. My wife had clam chowder and I had fish chowder, both average, rather thin but a fair amount of substance. Steamers were very good and we enjoyed the lobster. Very busy but... More

Lobsters, fried fish all good, but do not like their chowder. Too thin . the place is very casual and clean. In my opinion too pricey.

We decided to have the twin lobster's while in Maine and went to Markey's. This venue is a very casual and family friendly place, with picnic tables in a large open (very casual) space. The place was almost full when we arrived at dinner time, but we didn't wait long. You pay for your meal upfront, then wait for the... More

Although they only take cash, there is an ATM machine in the lobby. As far as the lobster goes you cannot get it any fresher or faster. Stayed in Hampton for 5 days and ate there every night! The special was 2 medium lobsters for $26.00! Cooked to perfection, they have the timing just right! The corn on the cob... More

We have been going to Markey's for years and usually enjoyed it. We did start to notice a steady decline, but still, it was part of the Salisbury Beach experience, so we continued. Yesterday, though, it was bad enough so that it was our last visit. I specifically asked if the haddock and clams were local and fresh. I was... More

Every time we are in the area, Markey's Lobster Pound is a must! This time we visited Markey's twice, on Sept. 6 and on Sept. 8. The lobster bisque and the clam chowder are perfect (actual pieces of lobster in the bisque and clams in the chowder). The lobster are simply boiled to perfection. My wife took a baked haddock... Okay, haven't been here in over 20 years and my husband and myself were hoping that things had changed. NOPE..... Steamers were perfect, no complaints. We got a combo plate, clams and Shrimp. Shrimp was of a good size. One noticeable thing was the batter was VERY light and I thought it odd. Hoping it was just a good batter... More
