Browns is classic New England lobster pound. It is right near the water. There are many repeat patrons. The food is served simply, plastic trays and paper plates, but don't let the informal appearance fool you. The food is devious, the lobster roll is served with delicious lobster meat on a perfectly toasted bun.

Went back to Seabrook on Monday (we were at Markey's the competitor on the previous Sunday) and had to go to Brown's for some seafood again, since Markey's is closed for the season during the week (Brown's will do likewise only on Nov. 15). Had the lobster bisque (creamy) and baked haddock/scallops. The bisque was creamy without any pieces of... More

Visited Brown's on recommendations of friends. We hear it is packed during the warmer months but we had plenty of room to choose from in late October. We LOVE steamers (clams) and that was our focus. We were not disappointed. We also shared crab cakes (don't think they were homemade), clam chowder, calamari, shrimp cocktail with friends. All was very... More

Well, at Brown'e you can byob (literally) and you probably should. Other than the fact that Brown's is grandfathered to sit on an ecologically sensitive salt marsh and the view from the deck is lovely (but not advised at low tide) the food served there is so-so. "In the rough" would be the phrase for the decor but you can... More

We travelled from N.B> . Canada to Wells this past weekend for a getaway. After looking at many reviews I was hesitant to try Brown's again, but I am so glad we decided to go. We met family from Boston and had a remarkable afternoon dining experience. The seafood platter is awesome and the 2 lb steamed lobster was to... More

When we walked in the door and the counter staff, which included the owner, was rude and obnoxious, we should have walked out. Instead we thought this place has a good reputation, give it a try. We were wrong. Food was not that good. Paid $61.00 and left feeling like we had wasted our money.

Here for lunch and ordered the lobster roll and lobster bisque. The bisque was awesome...creamy and full of flavor. Not so impressed with the lobster roll. It had lots of mayonnaise and paprika on it. There were also many standard items like fried clams and scallops. Service was so matter of fact and less than friendly. Atmosphere is a huge... More

The steamed clams were very good and the lobster was fresh and cooked perfectly. The restaurant has a great view in a good spot, plenty of parking and seating. They also have a cool feature which is a large sink area used to wash off the lobster (that I got all over myself). The glitch in this place is ordering... More
