After not being able to get into any restaurants without a 1+ hour wait on a Friday night, we walked over to Popovers and had a nice, relaxed (and quiet!) meal. The sandwiches and salads are delicious and the deserts are the perfect finale. We had 2 gluten free and 2 non-gluten free eaters and everyone was so happy with... More

I couldn't help but notice the size of the popovers while window shopping in Portsmouth and decided to give it a try. We ordered the popover with fondue as well as a Cuban sandwich to share. Both meals were outstanding and would highly recommend. Unfortunately we didn't try any of the deserts but they all looked delicious!

This place has the best popovers I have ever eaten. Light and airy, with a crisp crust and served warm with a homemade maple butter. I ate at a lot of places in Portsmouth, NH but this meal stole the cake. Friendly staff and the crowd comes in waiting for these things. I will definitely be going back.

There popovers are so amazing they are light and airy like they should be. Maple butter is served with them it is made with maple syrup and real butter :) no junk . I could have eaten a bowl of the maple butter it self. They run $2.50 + tax . They also have gluten free options in the backery... More

Stopped in for a snack on our way through town, my son and I had cheesecake...my daughter and husband had lunch. Both were very good. It was basically an order at the counter and self serve place. Clean and hip atmosphere, my husband said it reminded him of Europe. However, the one downfall seemed to be the heat, it was... More

Went with my parents today for lunch- ordered at counter and are outside- so no real service to comment on. We had caprese panini, Blt with provolone, and chicken wrap substituted with turkey cause they ran out of chicken. We all raved about our sandwiches! Would definitely have that again. The pastries looked amazing but somehow I found the strength... More

Portsmouth is a great city to visit in the summer. We loved our visit to Popovers on the square for breakfast. We had the popovers with flavored butter and jam for breakfast on our visit. There was a blend of folks who are from Portsmouth as well as tourists enjoying breakfast when we visited. The service was fast and we... More

Great service, great atmosphere. Yummy treats! A lovely way to indulge in an afternoon snack. Counter help so nice, friendly and patient. We ate outside on a lovely summer day. Watched the busy foot traffic on congress street. Enjoyed a delicious popover w maple butter and a great glass of Merlot. Apple crisp and mint chocolate cupcake also a big... More

The name says it all, the popovers were good but they were not served hot. Once we asked for them to be warmed they were very tasty with the maple butter. The so called Mac and Cheese was really just pasta and a cheese milk mixture. Do I dare say it was disgusting, yes I do!!! The staff was average... More
