We visit Portsmouth often -- 2 to 3 times a year and this is one of our must stops. The location can't be beat - right on Market Square - and outdoor seating, too! The sandwiches are above average -- I particularly enjoy the Monte Cristo, but we haven't had any negative meals. You can also get salads, quiche, and... More

Popovers was recommended for lunch by the staff at the Governor Langdon House, and lived up to their praise. The soup special was a spicy Southwest vegetable offering, which preceded an unusually tasty BLT sandwich. The French roast coffee was hot and satisfying. Popovers is also a bakery, and the dessert offerings looked amazing, though we'll save those for another... More

Visited Popovers on our way to Maine. Main reason was to check out the small town of Portsmouth. Got there at about 9.30AM and the place was packed. Fortunately; they had outdoor seating. They have some nice variety of sandwiches and breakfast items on the menu. However the food itself is OK. not great. I have had better sandwiches. Its... More

Have been here before and I think it has improved. The food selection and preparation seemed better. Before, it was just popovers but now it's a good menu. The popovers are the hit and the draw. The come with each meal in mini's or you can order a big one that looks just like my mom made. I keep coming... More

Just stopped at this place for coffee, but we couldn't resist the desserts. I had a cannolo, which was very good, and my husband got quite happy with his key lime pie. The outside area is cute.

Good for families but food was only ok. I expected more based on other reviews. There were vegetarian options, but the menu is limited. Might be better for breakfast tan for dinner.

Fresh salads and really good breads make for a fine lunch. The ingredients are well blended, the coffee is good , and the seating on the square makes for some really excellent people watching. I eat here whenever we are in town.

The Centerpiece is a warm slice of bread pudding that's been topped with everything you could want, from ice cream to white chocolate to fresh fruit. This is a must. Plus I'm told the carrot cake is the best!

The hostess could not have been nicer, she pulled a chair over so we could sit while we were waiting for a table. The food was delicious, the pastries were good. The popovers were amazing. They even passed the iced T test. Which meant it was very good, everything was very good, we wished we had one of these restaurants... More

Popovers graciously donated petit fours for An Evening by the Sea at the Wentworth by the Sea Country Club, Rye, NH for the fundraiser of My Breast Cancer Support. The food is consistently delicious and full of flavor. Store is crazy busy and staff is gracious and nice. Don't miss this landmark when in Portsmouth, NH
