Great Location and Great Meal

This restaurant in just across from North Church and tucked in at the end of a small side street. The ambiance is wonderful, we enjoyed live piano and base music, had a very enjoyable meal with several glasses of wine and it was very easy to have a casual conversation. There is a bar if you care... read more

What a sucky place. Noisy lacking in any atmosphere and over cooked plain food. To be honest, we were there with a big corporate crowd but the least they could have done would have been to offer us a choice as to how our tiny little strips were cooked. Wait staff was uninterested in us and the chocolate cake was... More

We ate at Rudi's in Portsmouth and liked the dinners a lot. It wasn't exactly fine dining but close to such. The food was excellent and the chef's special that night (fish) was a good indication of the chef's creativity and abilities. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. The wait staff was attentive but not overbearing. It was very hot... More

Stopped in for happy hour on a Monday to enjoy a glass of wine and small plates. What a treat. As a single grandmother I was well taken care of by server/bar tender, Tom, who made recommendations. I wouldn't hesitate to return. Several couples of various ages appeared to be enjoying themselves

We had huevos rancheros and crab benedict with a dark and stormy drink. Everything was really delicious, generously portioned and very reasonable. The coffee was great and our friendly waitress was attentive but not intrusive. She asked if we needed refills of our coffee when she noticed it was low which we appreciated. There is a formal area in the... More

My calamari came w a sauce on the bottom of the plate. Sauce was too sweet and too much. Sauce shd have been in a small bowl. My risotto was over cooked, liked the mushrooms. Side comment, host wore a casual blue plaid shirt and light brown pamts. Did not fit w the fine dining atmosphere and wait staff in... More

Rudi's is one of those places where you're never disappointed. Although the atmosphere and food are on the more upscale side, it is welcoming and entertaining. The restaurant has exanded to include a larger dingin area and two bars -- one within the restaurant and a separate area that caters to the couples and friends who just want to drink... More

Rudi's is just off Market St. & Rte 1 in Portsmouth and includes a private parking lot. We had a Friday evening dinner and were treated to some very nice music by a piano and bass duo. The menu was quite interesting. We shared an order of calamari which was tossed in a sweet Thai glaze that was very good.... More
