Must have breakfast

We ate at Colby's twice in our visit to Portsmouth NH. We had to wait a bit as they are always busy and has a small dining room. The service was great and the host kept good track of seating. The food was excellent. If you order a pancake, get one even if you are a big eater as the... read more

Had the delicious southwestern omelet with homemade salsa. Even the roasted potatoes were delicious. My husband had ONE chocolate chip pancake that was bigger then the plate. You definitely come hungry and leave very full at Colbys! Definitely will visit again when in Portsmouth.

We had breakfast here and found the food to be very good, and plentiful. The blueberry pancakes were huge, and wonderful, delivered with real maple syrup. The only issue we had with this otherwise fine restaurant was the quality of the coffee -- not bad, but your standard diner issue. A more flavorful coffee would make a good place even... More

Good breakfast, small restaurant. We had to wait about 10 mins but they offered us coffee while we waited. There is a small outside dining area as well, but no where to sit while waiting (just be aware). There were deliveries while we were waiting so we had to keep moving to allow them to go by. Food was good,... More

Colby's is a hit local spot for your morning needs from flapjacks to eggs and all of your usual breakfast fare. whats nice about this place is, there's nothing diner-ish about it. Its just a cute cozy little restaurant right in downtown Portsmouth ( across from the Post Office) comfy wooden chairs and tables, no formica or plastic/vinyl. Bloodies, mimosas,... More

We stay over in Portsmouth a couple of times a year, and we always end up at Colby's for breakfast, even forsaking the included breakfast at our hotel. There is something "small townish" about this gem, with only a few tables and often a line waiting to get in (get there early). The food is consistently good, fairly priced, and... More

Colby's does breakfast right! The first time we visited Portsmouth we were looking for a breakfast spot and stumbled on a goldmine. Now when we know that we will be in the area, we make plans to make sure we can fit in at least one breakfast at Colby's.

Nice little breakfast spot. Nothing out of a can here. Homemade corned beef hash that was a little salty for my taste and homemade hollandaise sauce which was much better than that our of a packet but needed a little more depth of flavor. Eggs cooked perfectly. Homefries are the real deal. Grilled not deep fried. Portions are HUGE. Server... More

We had eaten lunch at the tiny Colby's once and thought it was fine, if nothing great. Breakfast is obviously their meal. I enjoyed my scrambled eggs and sausage patties. The blueberry pancakes were fluffy and tender and they only use real maple syrup here so that is a real plus. My wife's homemade corned beef hash was also top-notch,... More
