The Pressroom is a Portsmouth institution...albeit a relatively young (for Portsmouth) one. The Pressroom has music every day of the week! (they originally got their liquor license because of this agreement - music everyday!) The downstairs is filled with acoustic sea-shanty's and irish music during the week; with the electric stuff saved for upstairs later at night. Don't miss the... More

The Press Room is known in the area to have some of the most consistent and best music around so it's worth checking out for that. Food is OK - typical pub food. Edible but nothing special. One of those local places that we take for granted but shouldn't - it's really a special spot because of the showcase of... More

We would have liked to have given this at least 4 stars because of what happens here on Friday nights. Local Celts and Scots move in and out of the back area of the bar on that night to sit and play and sing wonderful tunes that they all seem to know. It was enchanting. However, the service was poor... More

I haven't actually eaten here, but the jazz is the best in the region. And this is a region where the jazz is very good indeed. Definitely worth checking out if you are in to good music.

We walked in on a Sunday night and there was awesome live music upstairs. There was a 5 piece jazz band and they were great. You can just grab a drink and sit and listen-no cover charge.

I don't like to complain because I am a bartender myself. My friend and I went here on a Friday night. The bar isn't that big and there were 3 people on the bar working. We had all 3 of them walk by us until I asked for a drink one if them replied "ya hold on" and walked off... More

Stopped in on a Tuesday night and we were treated to a great jazz band. The place was very busy and very loud, but the service, as well as the food, was wonderful. The white pizza was delicious!!

The wife and I stopped by after a hard day of shopping and were not disappointed. Had the Oskar Blues G'Knight beer while my wife enjoyed the Mayflower porter. Both were cold and solid brews. For dinner we had the grilled Yellowfin Tuna club which had a wonderful aolii spread with Mango red pepper chutney that was very enjoyable with... More

The Press Room can get VERY crowded, but that's because everyone loves to go there. The food is good, and they always have awesome live music. You can't go wrong going here for a meal, or just to hang out with some good music.

The Press Room is a bar, yeah. With music every night, a lot of beers, and some food. It's in kind of beat-up shape with a ceiling that until recently was falling onto the tables below. But lately, something good has happened at the lively, local, but rather ordinary dive bar Press Room. Suddenly, their food is off the charts... More
