There's no frills to this place but it's just a good homestyle breakfast at a local spot. The omelettes & blueberry pancakes were delicious. Definitely a good spot to start your day!

If your looking for excellent breakfast in a small town atmosphere on the east coast then try the Golden Egg in Portsmouth NH. It's not big or fancy but the omlettes are delicious. My husband had a vegetable omelette and it looked and tasted as if someone had gone to the backyard and picked their freshest most delicious vegetables and... More

Mostly locals. Service could not be better, very friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Variety of omelets, pastries, fresh fruit, seafood (yes at breakfast) is over the top.

Just came home from a week in Rye Beach. We ate breakfast everyday at the Golden Egg. Very speedy service, incredible specials, caring staff, delicious new flavors of coffee each day. Located 10 minutes from Rye Beach. Full of locals enjoying a good meal.

The value was good. Typical diner food for the area with warm staff. I had sausage gravy and eggs. The gravy was OK, nothing spectacular, but I WAS in New England, not the south. My husband's breakfast burrito looked very good. On the whole I recommend this as a good stop for breakfast. Don't let the "road end" signs put... More

Granted that a lot of places are going to charge you $7-$10 for a made-to-order three-egg omelet so if you are comfortable paying $25-$30 for two breakfasts, with coffee, don't take my advice to share an omelet and enjoy a huge breakfast for yourself. My wife and I ordered the omelets; mine was the "Super" veggie with cheese and hers... More

I don't like going to a restaurant and getting lied to by the hostess. When you ask if they have fresh squeezed O.J. and the answer is yes and when the O.J arrives at the table and it tastes like TANG, that is not a good start. The bagel was frozen not fresh and the pancake was just OK. The... More

The Golden Egg is simply "OK." There are several places within a short drive that serve identical fare, at identical cost, served by just about the same employees. It's breakfast. Why the need to wait outside for eggs, toast, and coffee? Neither disappointing, nor impressive. Better than the "Dirty Toast," about the same as "Hebert's," not as good as the... More

Finally tried the Golden Egg and can say that it was worth the wait. Mostly homemade fare with a sincere effort to make your breakfast worthwhile. Tried the place twice for breakfast before writing the review. Tried the usual breakfast fare with the exception of the oatmeal as we were told it was of the quick cook variety. Th omelets... More
