Excellent Breakfast

Very fair pricing, delicious food. One thing though, no gloves and staff touching food all over the place before serving. Don't sit at the bar, you see this and it kind of ruins the appetite. So i watched my dish carefully, no one touched my eggs, but the omelets get tested for doneness by hand

I onverindulged a bit here i was hungry. Had the omelet with italian sausage and a side of cinnamon roll everythin was great and what i would expect from a hearty breakfast shop. The place is not fancy but the food is great. Note get the grilled english muffin with butter is delicious.

Can't believe we've been in Portsmouth over 10 years now and haven't written a review on "The Egg". We've tried lots of nice places in the area over the years but this is the best and the most consistent. If you want the standard stuff or something a bit different they knock it out piping hot, and fresh every time.... More

Went for breakfast today. With two of us we were able to get right in with no wait. The coffee was good. We split a gluten free muffin (very tasty). They will even heat and grill it if you want. I had the eggs florentine which was delicious!! I asked for light on the hollandaise sauce and I am glad... More

My son (6yo) visited this restaurant two Sundays ago while my husband was working. Then we dragged my husband back last Sunday for another breakfast. Both times I ordered the "Super Veggie with Havarti Dill Omelet" and my son ordered a waffle both times but with different toppings. The atmosphere was everything I was looking for, reminding me of the... More

I was here one time about 10 years ago; a regular insisted that it was THE place to have breakfast. At the time, I was completely underwhelmed (but of course, I wouldn't insult my friend by saying so), and never visited again. Until a few weeks ago. With the Sagamore Bridge back in place, I decided it was time to... More

We were looking for some place to grab breakfast after leaving our hotel down the street and saw the cars parked on the street, which told us this must be the place to go! We had about a fifteen minute wait and it was definitely worth it. Had the egg white omelet with bacon, cheese and broccoli. It was perfectly... More

Not wanting to pay the very high prices asked for breakfast at our hotel we stumbled upon the Golden Egg. OMG – probably one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. It was so delicious we went back again the next day. I discovered the joys of jalapeno bacon, which they offered when we were there, and was shattered... More

Super busy but great service and great food. So much better than our nearby expensive hotel. Coffee kept coming and the portions were excellent-highly recommended.

Everything started off great, friendly service, fresh hot coffee, impressive menu but then it had a great fall. They forget to mention all the ingredients, my vegetarian wife discovered they put sausage in her meal even though we specifically asked what was in it. I wanted something different and this menu looked it. I ordered what I thought as per... More
