Nice intimate atmosphere. Look for their Oyster specials. Super location when you want to escape the crowds on the docks in the summer.

The staff were friendly, a bit too much as we were all over 30 y/o and our waiter asked us for our ID cards. The food was good and fresh. I had a clam chowder (chowda) for appetizer and for entree, an haddock piccata. Both were delicious. The chowda had big chunks in it.
They have a great selection of...

Always love to eat at Jumpin' Jay's. Sadly we didn't make it there this trip. Alwyas the best oysters in town. Great staff!!
After hearing so much about this place we just had to try it. We did the "Catch of the Day" Menu. Yes...they have very fresh local fish (but so do most of the restaurants on this strip of the Seacoast) but you choose how it will be cooked and with what sauce. I found it unimaginative and there was an...

Every time we have had dinner here we have raved about the food and the service. This past weekend we were in Portsmouth for two nights and decided to eat at Jumpin Jay's both nights. I had the tuna tartare and seared tuna both nights and my husband had the lobster bisque and lobster fettuccine one night and the lobster...

Odd name, but fantastic, fresh seafood. A wide assortment, great appetizers, chowder was tasty and the entrees just about as fresh as you'll find. Best to make reservations, despite the wide assortment of dining options in town this place is very crowded on a weekend night, obviously the word is out; so get Jumping!
A specialty of the house, as we were told, the haddock piccata was indeed fantastic-- so fresh and light and cooked perfectly. The sauce was wonderful, and veggies served with it were just right. This place is cozy and informal, and the service couldn't have been better. It's easy to recommend Jumpin' Jay's highly!
We had heard about Jumpin' Jay's and were eager to try it on a recent visit to Portsmouth. The seafood was fresh and imaginatively prepared. It was a Saturday and the place was mobbed. Be sure to get reservations. What surprised and impressed us was the number of locals who were eating there. It is not inexpensive but worth every...

My friend raved about the steamed mussels in sauce, the scallops with florentine fettuchini, and the key lime pie. My lobster bisque was only warm, the 3 large scallops were cooked perfectly, but the black forest cake was a round dry cake with cherries and a little whipped cream on the side.
The food is seved quickly, but the restaurant...
