Jumpin Jay's is great fish place! Clams, muscles, raw oysters, swordfish, salmon, haddock, chowda are the choices to stick to. They have a great arrangement of sauces, as well, for just a hint of something new. The servers are on target, checking on tables, filling water glasses, and making good recommendations. The decor isn't great, they're ready for change, but... More

When people ask where to eat seafood in Portsmouth, Jays is our #1 recommendation. It's busy, it's edgy, not inexpensive. Fish is fresh and they are more than willing to work with you on preparation.

We just LOVE Jumpin' Jays! It is one of our "go to" places to eat in Portsmouth. The seafood is excellent especially whatever is fresh for the day and did we mention the mussels? You will want plenty of that great crusty bread to dip in the sauce. Ambiance is great. If it is just the two of you, we... More

Have eaten here several times and love the fresh fish right out of the harbor and the different sauces that you can pick or get three and mix it up . Also the beet salad was lovely !

Having been to this restaurant many times in the past I feel compelled to mention two things. The sides that come with the dinner fish choice are all the same . The seating is tight and it's hard to have a quite conversation. Other then that the fish is terrific.

We generally save JJFC for a special night out mainly because the entrees are priced 25-30 dollars...granted they are always good but we can find very good alternatives nearby for 15-20 dollars...JJFC has the ambiance that makes it special...the service is always great and the drinks are nicely mixed...

We tried Jumpin' Jays on a recent visit to Exeter. The front part of the house was noisy and packed so we sat in the back room. Pretty quiet and plain but just right for conversation. We had our usual martini's which were good. We shared an order of fried calamari for an appetizer. It was very good, the calamari... More

Fortunately had reservations on a packed evening. Friendly staff helped guide choices. Excellent fresh fish, oyster and libation selection. Can't wait to return to the interesting historic neighborhood and this great restaurant.

This is one of the better restaurants for well prepared seafood in the area. Whether you are looking for lobster, or trout, or tuna, or halibut or crab, scallops, mussels or Mahi Mahi -- I recommend this to satisfy your seafood needs.
