Had a very good clam chowder; service was very good and so were the drinks. I also tried the crab cakes. We got there early and got a table with no reservation, but it got crowded by 6:30.

We've been a few times over the years, moved away and was back in the area this past weekend and enjoyed another great meal at Jumpin Jays Fish Cafe. . I'm not a fish guy but enjoyed the shrimp Provencal immensely... This dish is fill of wonderful fable and is offered with other mains besides shrimp... Always very tasty. My... More

I recently visited Jumpin' Jays Fish Cafe for dinner. We had reservations for a table, but when we arrived, we decided to sit and eat at the bar - just something we like to do. The restaurant was bustling and the wait-staff seemed incredible busy. Even with how busy it was, the service was great. We were waited on and... More

Holy mackerel! (Note: mackerel is not on the menu) I ate here last night and can't stop thinking about what a lovely dining experience it was! You walk in and it's a combination of casual and classy, with nautical undertones that are not cheesy in the slightest. The place is very clean and hip, with mid-century modern inspired decor. The... Pretty much in the heart of Portsmouth, this mostly seafood restaurant has more than the expected fried food of the area. Tasty food with excellent service, and good ambience. It was busy the night we went, Tuesday 12/30 but we did not feel rushed or overwhelmed. We would definitely go back!

When we first walked in, I was kinda let down with the tables & diner style bar BUT then, I watched the staff as they moved easily around & it was actually very conducive to good service. I like that the servers did not have to walk through a maze of tables to bring out food from the kitchen. Our... More

Nantucket Scallops to die for - great service - nice atmosphere - a wonderful meal in a trendy restaurant. Fish in the name makes fish its game and a winner in our book.
