Ok, honestly, the decor leaves a little to be desired. However, I've had steamed mussels pretty much in every restaurant in Boston, many restaurants in NY, Paris, Brussels, London etc, and Jumping Jay's broth with lemongrass, scallions, Jalepenos and garlic (lots and lots of garlic) is the best I've ever had. If for nothing else, Jays is worth a visit... more

We had heard and read lots of positive reviews of this restaurant so we were looking forward to our evening at Jumpin' Jay's. Our initial disappointment was with the lighting in the restaurant -- it was so subdued we had great difficulty reading the menus. One of the joys of eating is looking at your food -- admiring the presentation... more

Our hotel strongly recommended this restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed the raw bar, but was disappointed that a lot of the entree offerings weren't local seafood. I think locals like this place because it's a bit different, but I didn't think it was very authentic or different from what I can find in my hometown. Good ambiance and service, and... more

First, the food: fabulous with many fresh-caught choices and even a sauce sampler so you can try all of the sauces with your chosen fish. The dish came with red bliss mashed potatoes and fresh veggies - all perfectly prepared. The creme brulee was the best we've ever had. The atmosphere, however, is cold - plastic tables, metal chairs -... more

My wife and I enjoyed perhaps one of the best dining experiences that either of us have had in a long, long time last night at Jumpin' Jay's Fish Cafe! This place has figured out how to do it right and I can't wait to go back. The hostess was courteous and friendly, the atmosphere is modern and appealing, not... more

Jumpin Jay's has music - go figure. It isn't overwhelmingly loud but you can hear it. I had a similar experience to a previous poster who arrived just after opening time, the staff just wasn't ready. They all congregated at the door, talking and taking it easy. Three or four people seemed to be our server, it was a bit... more

We ate here last Saturday night and the place was packed, but we had a quiet little table by the window. Raw oysters were tasty and properly chilled. Salmon tartar and avocado appetizer was delicious. Salads were fresh and crisp. Stuffed rainbow trout special was out-of-this-world. Pan seared halibut was perfection. Good wine list. Even the hot fudge brownie sundae... more

My wife and I lived near Boston for many years and really like excellently prepared seafood. We recently were on vacation in the New Hampshire and Maine area, and had dinner at this reataurant, based on reviews that we read. The restaurant was suppose to open at 5:00 PM, but the staff did not seemed ready, so the opening was... more
