Cafe Mediterraneo, like being there without the travel

We have been to Café Mediterraneo a few times and always really liked it, but our last visit was especially memorable. Thought this would have more options like Greek...our mistake. We stayed anyway and had a delicious lunch. Typical dishes. Looked like the bar was popular for quick working lunches.

We were looking for good Italian food during our recent visit to Portsmouth and we found it at Cafe Mediterraneo! The food was delicious, the service was great and the atmosphere was delightful. I had the “Chicken Apricot” and it was awesome! If you’re looking for authentic Italian food with a twist, this is the place!

Food was great. Service was friendly. The only reason I didn't give it full score is because of the lack lusting mussel appetizer.

We went to Cafe Mediterraneo for Restaurant Week November 2014. The menu had great options. My choices were Eggplant Rolotini (Eggplant rolled with prosciutto, ricotta, spinach, mozzarella, and marinara sauce), Pork Porterhouse Alla Sorrentina (Pork topped with prosciutto, portabella mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, served with a sage risotto and garlic braised baby carrots, finished with a peppercorn sherry wine and Costa... We came into Portsmouth on a Sunday afternoon. After walking around town, we saw this cozy looking little place and decided to eat here. We were seated in a back room area, which would not have been my choice, but as it turned out we had the best waiter....wish I knew his name. Just so kind and pleasant and very... More

I have had lunch and dinner here many times and have never been disappointed. I brought my picky sister and brother-in-law here recently and they were delighted with the choices and the food. They can't wait to return to Maine and eat here again.

We all came in looking for different things to eat, and the menu accommodated us quite nicely. We had duck, lobster ravioli, chicken parm, and a seafood risotto, and all four dinners were both large and excellent. Service was fine. The white wine was quite good, the rose a bit less so. A good location and reasonable prices.

My husband and I happened upon this restaurant before a concert at "The loft",a local theatre. We had no idea what to expect. It was relatively empty when we arrived, but it was early for a Friday night. The menu outside looked like we could both find something to enjoy and it was reasonable. What a nice dinner we had!... Recommended by a local friend, we were not disappointed. The lobster ravioli was exceptional by any standard of measure. The lasagna, once returned to the kitchen to be brought above room temperature, was good as well. Very impressively, the owner and his very professional staff deftly managed a large crowd that included lots of walk-ins. Despite the influx of customers,... More
