Q: Is Coat of Arms Good? A: Yes!

I've been to Portsmouth quite a number of times over the past ten years or so and until this past trip I had never even known this place existed. In fact, once I stayed at the hotel diagonally across from it and still never noticed it. Only tripped on it this time as there was a parking space... read more

This was the perfect choice for celebrating graduation with a large party (more than 12 people). They have a wide selection of beers on tap and also imported stuff from the UK and continental Europe. The menu consists of what you would typically find in a pub: burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips. They also have some finger food and beer... More

My husband and I love their black and black beer mixture!! So tasty! And their bangers and mash and fish n' chips were awesome!! Stay away from the shepherds pie and other pies, we wanted to love them, but they really weren't good at all. Otherwise we loved their sausage appetizer with fried egg in the middle and the ambience... More

Being born in the UK I'm always looking for a great and genuine British style restaurant menu that isn't just the US comparison or take on a theme. The Coat of Arms pub knows how to deliver. British pub feel, couple of dart boards with darts behind the bar, a pool/snooker table and lots of atmosphere. The drink selection is... More

As other reviewers have said, this is a place for locals and I agree. However, my local pub wouldn't treat any of their customers as poorly as this place does. We love finding pubs when we travel and were excited to try this place. But, we almost turned around when we walked up the shabby stairs and we probably should... More

Being a hopeless Anglophile, I was delighted to learn that, while staying at a motel in Portsmouth NH I could get some fish-and-chips and mushy peas in a "real" British pub! Checked their website for hours, etc. Made a special trip, paid for parking, etc. only to find they were NOT open for lunch as stated. OK, so I came... More

The pub is up a flight of stairs, so you can't get a look at it from outside. But it was roomy, done up like a British pub, with a friendly wait staff. It has an extensive beer list including some microbrews which we couldn't try because we were about to get on the road. But the other people there... More

My husband and I decided to try something new in this visit to Portsmouth. I saw that this place had many good reviews and the menu looked delicious so we came here tonight for dinner. I had the chicken pot pie and my husband had the boiled dinner, which was the special tonight. We really enjoyed the food but couldnt... More

Stopped in for dinner around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. Sat up at the bar and had the scotch egg and wings appetizers as my meal. Both very good. Had two beers one Stoneface IPA and then an Irish Red Ale. Everything is good.

Every bite was delicious-- nachos, goat and leek dip, fish and chips, steak and kidney pie, haddock and leek pie -- 10/10. Not to mention the beer selection! "If you're a Brit you'll feel at home" - British Dad.
