Romantic night out

Very nice food and wonderful atmosphere. Fantastic salads, great menu for anyone. Really great food at a reasonable price. Have been two times and it is nice to see that this looks over the square of Portsmouth

Michelle's is an authentic, colorful, eclectic, happy, country European-style bistro and wine bar, with a bird's-eye view (from the second floor dining rooms) of Market Square in the heart of historic Portsmouth, and limited seating, seasonally, on the sidewalk outside. It is, hands-down, the best purely continental cuisine in the City. We love the imaginative if not to say unique... More

Wife and I visited from out of state and arrived in town looking for some place to eat on busy Saturday night. The menu looked attractive and so did the decor. The wait staff at first was very attentive but then somewhere along the line just dropped off the map. A drink took a while to arrive. Bread that was... More

We've eaten here many times, but no more. My wife was there on Sunday, 8 November at 1:40, well before the 2pm closing time. Lurch met her at the door, blocked the door, and said simply "We're closed." Not "I'm awfully sorry ma'am, but it was slow so we let our hard-working staff go early" or "So sorry, there's been... Decided to try this at the last minute. Cook took us upstairs and was extremely friendly. Started worrying because of one waitress working hard to bring satisfaction to all. French onion soup was very nice followed by a great seafood pasta dish (extremely generous on the seafood) and a cassoulet with wild boar that had great flavor. Found a bottle... More

We had breakfast there last year in late October 2014. We got right in and they took us up a very narrow stairway to the second floor. nice French looking windows and tables. Not a lot of room and that's OK. But as we entered from the street to see the kitchen... It looked more like a meeting place... It... More

I walked in and immediately asked if they were opened for brunch, given the limited number of tables on the ground floor. I was immediately greeted by one of the cooks who made light of my tourist's. attire and had us promptly seated at a table for two upstairs. The restaurant is absolutely charming with multiple rooms and seating arrangements.... More

Walked out after drinking water and waiting for 45 minutes with " the kitchen is small and they are working on it" from the bartender. Cant comment on the food since we told the bartender to cancel our order after 45 minute wait to which we were told "OK" without any apologies.
