Great brunch and location

Michelle’s is a really quaint restaurant on the main drag in Portsmouth. The restaurant is two stories with only a few tables downstairs near the open kitchen, but don’t be fooled. When you go upstairs you come upon a cozy seating area with couches and a warm vibe. The restaurant then leads to a... read more

We were trying to find a place to eat dinner on a busy saturday nite, when everything was about 2 hours out for the wait. We walked in here, and it was busy but no line and no wait. We thought we would give it a try, and I'm glad we did. The food is not your typical fare, it... More

Went to Michelle's with the family on a Saturday night. Made reservations so we were seated promptly. I was parking the car (good luck in downtown Portsmouth!). The server made the rest of the family wait until I arrived to take a beverage order. Attitude or overwhelmed? Tiny menu, reflecting space limitations of kitchen. We ordered. Apps were good, entrees... More

Been here 3-4 times in last year, dinner and brunch. Somewhat modernized take on traditional French food, always tasty and well prepared. Leans toward local seafood. Nice space. Service has always been ok. Wine menu is somewhat pricey, but overall pricing is ok.

Went here for brunch this past Sunday - 5 April 2015 (Easter!). Accompanied by wife and daughter. Small little place, cozy I suppose. We were seated upstairs near "pooh corner". Lots of restaurant speak amongst the staff, we were the "three top in the corner". Anyhow, menu review showed a wide variety of choices, including a burger, so they have... More

Because of impending blizzard on top of snow, snow, snow, we ventured to Portsmouth for brunch as we knew dinner would be impossible. It was a totally lovely experience. We had a window table overlooking the square which made for interesting people watching. The staff was efficient and very personable, offering great suggestions. I had the scallops and pasta which... Overall this was an OK dining experience. We each had an appetizer. I had the salmon patty which I thought was very good. For me it was not too salty but was for my boyfriend. I felt the menu lacked vegetarian dishes. I think owners get into a rhythm and forget to step back and see what needs to be... More

We recently visited this restaurant for brunch. The food was very good, my husband had the eggs Benedict - veggie option, and I had the scrambled egg/smoked salmon breakfast. We both had fruit on the side ( not very good - pineapple with a few blueberries). I also had a very small, pricey ($11) mimosa. The service was very good.... More

We went for dinner last night. We had a reservation for 6:45 and were promptly seated at the table by the door, when we had specifically asked for, and were assured on the phone, that we would be seated upstairs. We were given menus and the wine list. After a 1/2 hour our drink order of sodas and wine were... More

Michelle's is an authentic French bistro right on Market Square in Portsmouth. We have had several great meals there with friends--a good place to bring out-of-town visitors. The service is especially friendly (in that way much more Portsmouth than Paris) and very accommodating--we brought one friend with some real dietary restrictions and the staff and chef were most willing to...
