Fine food in the heart of Portsmouth

We have always had excellent meals at this restaurant. We've heard the occasional criticism but have experience only the finest. We've only eaten dinner there but Michelle's now serves brunch too. First time and went for brunch. Sat outside on beautiful sunny July Portsmouth morning (does not get better than this). Seafood crepe packed with seafood and cooked perfect albeit a bit pricey @ $20. Best Monte Cristo I have ever had by far! Took a moment to thank the chef in person. Can't wait to return to try out dinner... More

We were looking for a nice place for a weekday lunch and were initially excited to find Michelle's. The menu is creative, and the atmosphere is nice. We were pleasantly surprised that they had a brunch menu, and that they had maple syrup on the table. The food, however, did not come close to what we expected. The sausage was... More

Great seafood stew of lobster, crab, scallops, shrimp and mussels w pasta. The lemon tart is so delicious. Great wine list. I had the Rhone. Service is the best!

Love feeling like I am being served great food in my friend's home! We always feel welcomed and we always make friends at Michelle's! I just wish Michelle was there more! We sit in the bar area upstairs and love the ambience.

Had lunch here redently. The food selection is excellent, out of the ordinarey without being weird. We both had the seafood crepes, excellent! Upstiars the view out the windows of Portsmouth's Market Square are an added plus. They also have a comfy looking lounge area toward the back of the restaurant, with an intimate bar. Truly a wonderful meal with... More

Michelle’s is a really quaint restaurant on the main drag in Portsmouth. The restaurant is two stories with only a few tables downstairs near the open kitchen, but don’t be fooled. When you go upstairs you come upon a cozy seating area with couches and a warm vibe. The restaurant then leads to a more open area with larger tables... More

We were trying to find a place to eat dinner on a busy saturday nite, when everything was about 2 hours out for the wait. We walked in here, and it was busy but no line and no wait. We thought we would give it a try, and I'm glad we did. The food is not your typical fare, it... More

Went to Michelle's with the family on a Saturday night. Made reservations so we were seated promptly. I was parking the car (good luck in downtown Portsmouth!). The server made the rest of the family wait until I arrived to take a beverage order. Attitude or overwhelmed? Tiny menu, reflecting space limitations of kitchen. We ordered. Apps were good, entrees... More

Been here 3-4 times in last year, dinner and brunch. Somewhat modernized take on traditional French food, always tasty and well prepared. Leans toward local seafood. Nice space. Service has always been ok. Wine menu is somewhat pricey, but overall pricing is ok.
