Description: The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. Plans are now underway for a third location.

Great food, great staff, and great prices!! I had the fishermans platter and the seafood was cooked to absolute perfection. The girls at the counter were kind and courteous.

As a local, I regularly visit here. I stopped by for an milkshake at the Portsmouth location on a slow winter weekday on my way home. There were three young girls working, two were on their cell phones and one at the register, who was not very friendly and multitasking a few orders. I patiently waited for folks ahead of... More

I love lobster and I love traveling the N.E. coast and inland for a good lobster roll at a good value. I continue to read that The Beach Plum has the best lobster roll. I have tried theirs and it's good but expensive and clearly not the best. Give me a toasted roll with chunks of lobster meat and I'm... More

I love lobster, but I had never had a lobster roll. This situation changed on a recent trip to New Hampshire, where a friend took me to the Beach Plum. The delicious lobster roll, and the clam chowder, were absolutely delicious! It sent me on the quest for more lobster rolls, which I ordered all over the NE seacoast. However,... More

I've always lived in New England. I'd like to say "I know seafood". My fiancé and I love this place!! Some of the best fried clams you can get. The portion reflects the price. Even my father agrees they are great there and he LOVES fried clams. I can't visit them without getting a cup of their chunky lobster bisque.... More

Saw their big billboard on Rt 1 advertising their Lobster Roll being voted Number 1 in NE. Being from the NE coast, & more importantly from a fisherman family & a'regular' with eating/ knowing seafood, I had to check it out. Casual dining (picnic tables) in a very clean, tastefully decorated restaurant (beautiful selection of flowers & colors in the... More

This place offers a lot of seafood! It serves up food "fast food" style, seating are picnic tables, it's a very informal, relaxed place but the food is OH so good. I usually don't like to eat deep fried anything, but I will here! The batter is very light and not greasy at all. Definitely a place I will return.

Stopped here for lunch. Fabulous selection of ice cream! Really, really good! Lobster roll was piled high, nice and fresh. My daughter had the crab salad which was huge! Crab was a little tasteless though. Personally, I prefer a bit more mayo in my lobster roll. Get the ice cream! You'll love it!
