Description: The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast...
The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. Plans are now underway for a third location in Epping,NH.

Fast, fresh, and flavorful!

Hubby and I ordered the Fisherman's plate and split it. It was promptly served and was piled high with all the fishy essentials: scallops, shrimp, clams with bulging bellies, haddock, and way too many fries. The portion size was generous and the batter was nice and light. I especially liked the... read more

We just ate at the new Epping location - it is fantastic! The restaurant is beautiful. The food was amazing! Huge portions. The kids love the chicken tenders. The lobster rolls were awesome. The greek salad was giant! Very clean. Easy free parking. And of course yummy ice cream! Can't wait to come back! Kids and adults all love this... More

My husband and I have heard all the rave reviews and decided to give The Beach Plum a try for lunch. We were not disappointed. We ordered the 12oz Lobster roll with onion rings to split, along with a cup of haddock chowder for my husband. The chowder was full of haddock pieces, very tasty and creamy. The onion rings... Great lunch price was typical of a seafood joint and service was great and quick. Sat on sunny outside deck on a cool day. All seafood we had was fresh and great taste

I can't say enough about The Beach Plum. We have been here many times and it is always so good. The seafood is always very fresh and always very hot when you get it. It's a very relaxed place, nothing fancy. You eat at picnic tables inside but you order then go sit down and they give you a number... More

We had lunch at the Beach Plum. Both the shrimp and the clam rolls were unenjoyable, greasy plus small portions - though I didn't mind it personally as my shrimp was anything but good. The lemonade has way too much sugar in it. The bill for two small rolls and two lemonades was almost 40$! In this area where there... More

Envisioned another Plum like the beach. This looked more like a fast food place elevated by a seaglass floor. We shared a clam plate which was plenty for two. Hate when they put the clams on the fries. Not this time... neither were soggy. The person taking my order was extremely patient and kind. The food was delivered to the... More

I can find 10 other places in the area with better seafood. I don't understand why this place is always highly rated. The food is well below average, service is slow. outside seating area is poor.

Went there today and found that the majority of the staff had a bit of an attitude. When I asked about some of the differences in the lobster rolls I was treated like an idiot. My sister and I decided to split a large lobster roll but when it arrived it was an individual roll. The rolls was toasted beautifully... More
