Description: The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast...
The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. Plans are now underway for a third location in Epping,NH.

Yummy Lobster Roll

Great authentic Lobster Rolls! Tender Lobster with Just the right amount of Mayo on a grilled bun! Their summer special of purchasing a $125 gift card for $100 is a great value. We've tried a lot of lobster rolls in MA, NH and ME and this place ranks in the top 5. Very casual. To avoid crowds... read more

The best lobster rolls I've ever had. Great French fries too! Perfect for families with kids. My little one loved the lobster statue.

It is a super clean restaurant. The menu had something for everyone. The portions were very good. The whole belly clams and onion rings were delicious! It was a 9 mile drive for us because we were staying in Hampton and it was well worth it.

I read a few dozen reviews and I simply can not believe people who go to a place famous for their Lobster Rolls and give it 2 stars because the burger was not great. If you can, buy the gift card the day before you use it. Instant 25% discount. A 10 ounce, perfectly filled lobster roll is then about... More

Family in Maine, we're in Ct. so we met in Portsmouth to spend some time together. Starting here to kick things off. Nothing at all fancy about this place, but the feel is very good. picnic tables and tables, order your food pay and get a number, grab your drink and go sit down and your food is brought to... More

We had dinner there a couple of evenings ago with my sister in law and her husband. My sister says it's her favorite place. I had the clams and scallops, and my wife had the shrimp. We were not disappointed. The food was hot, and not greasy. It was very tasty and there were plenty of it. We will return... More

Nothing fancy but overpriced. Cute picnic table seating but only a view of the parking lot. Lobster roll was ok, onion rings were no good. Overall not worth the trip.

I visited the Beach Plum after a day of exploring Portsmouth. It is a short drive outside the downtown area. This a classic New England coast seafood restaurant - picnic table dining inside and out with loads of tasty fried foods and fish. I had the 6 oz.lobster rolls which was perfect. It was loaded with lobster, they had bigger... More

Heard about the MONSTER lobster roll as far north as Camden ME, so had to make a visit upon our return to Manchester. WOW, those folks know what they are talking about! numerous lobster roll sizes to choose from, as well a a variety of seafood dishes from clams, scallops, salmon and haddock - cooked a million different ways. added... Just stopped here on my way back to Ct. This place has great clam strips, tender and perfectly fried. Good service and very clean. I wish I had this place near me. If you are in the area this is a must stop for lunch.
