Description: The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast...
The Beach Plum opened in 1992 at North Hampton state beach as a breakfast and lunch restaurant. The next year, a better location became available just down the street (at it's current location) and it became a take out food and ice cream stand. That original location continues to operate seasonally April - October each year. Based on strong growth in the business at that beach location, a second Beach Plum location was opened at 2800 Lafayette Road (Route 1) in Portsmouth on St Patrick's Day 2011. This Portsmouth location features an expanded menu that includes award winning fried seafood with both indoor and outside deck dining. The Portsmouth Beach Plum was featured on TV Diner in 2012 and Phantom Gourmet in 2011 which named it as a Great 8 restaurant for both it's famous lobster rolls AND fried clams. The Beach Plum is believed to be the only restaurant in New England to be so honored as 1 of the 8 best for BOTH seafood specialties. Plans are now underway for a third location in Epping,NH.

Great family friendly restaurant

We stopped at the Beach Plum for the first time after being told many times how good it was. The first thing we noticed was how well kept the outside was. Freshly painted and lots of containers of beautiful flowers. The outside porch area looked pleasant and was quite busy. The inside is roomy and... read more

We visit here quite often in the summer and even the off season at the Portsmouth location. Ice cream is awesome at either the Hampton or Portsmouth location! We always get seafood and they never disappoint. Pricing is fair and the lobster rolls actually have lobster in them, identifiable parts and lots and lots of meat. Their claim / combo... More

Best meal we had! I had the lobster roll and it was so fresh and they gave us so much! My husband had the lobster bisque and he is still raving about it! I cannot wait to go back

This was the biggest, most jammed packed lobster roll I had during my trip New England. I had to eat the lobster off the top, before I could take a bite. My son loves clam chowder and he says without a doubt it's the best he has ever had.

My wife and I drive a truck across country. We don't get to the northeast much. We were told if we got up to Maine we had to get real lobster rolls. We were in New Hampshire and saw this place. They claimed to have the best lobster rolls in New Hampshire. Having never had lobster rolls I can't judge... More

My first visit to Beach Plum was on the recommendation of my brother. Their original location is in N. Hampton on Rte 1A and if you're not paying attention it's easy to drive by. It looks like a roadside ice cream stand but stopping in and looking at the menu tells you it's much more. My trip to their new... More

If you're looking for a lobster roll chock full of lobster meat, get over there! And if you want some corn fritters that taste like mini doughnuts, this is the place to be!

You go up to the long counter, place your order, having looked at the huge board, and it comes pretty quickly to your indoor picnic table. My $9.99 haddock sandwich had a HUGE filet in it. My $2.99 draft beer was cold and delicious.

My buddy and I spent a leisurely day off in the Portsmouth and Kittery, ME, area on Monday. We ate brunch, drove out to Nubble Light and then enjoyed greater Portsmouth. At mid-afternoon we decided to have an early dinner and I researched the best lobster rolls in the area. As you likely have guessed, The Beach Plum was prominently... More

Probably 15 - 20 minutes off of route 95 north headed toward home with awesome fried food... you just can not beat the place. Giant lobster rolls that would satisfy any lobster lover. The kind of place that has picnic tables in and outside... you order your food at the counter and you bring back a cute little lobster sign... More
