Got right in on a Monday night. Lucky to find a parking place close by. Our martini's were fine at $7.50 each. The calamari appetizer at $11 was decent. My Portuguese seafood stew at $29.00 was served very very hot in a pot that looked like my mom's Wearever pot from the 50's. I will never learn. Those seafood stews... More

I'm a sushi fan, and Surf's among the best sushi restaurants in memory. Super friendly wait staff, and spectacular location with patio overlooking the harbor at sunset.

Place was busy but we didn't have to wait to be seated. Like the causal atmosphere...can dress up or dress down. We had sea scallop appetizers which melted in your mouth and 2lb lobsters which were incredible. They name the lobsters... I had Charlie and my companion had Larry! Coleslaw is not great.

Fantastic food and beverages. Had a great meal, started at the bar for drinks, bartender made suggestions based on what we usually drink. Our one companion took her up on her suggestion and did not care for it so she made her another drink free of charge. Sat in a booth that faces out on the water overlooking the bridge,... More

When asked for a good seafood restaurant in old Portsmouth, our shuttle driver, Linda, said Surf, and she was right. We didn't have a reservation, so we expected to wait, and that gave us the opportunity to stroll around the city, then have a drink at the bar (which was very good). Ask for seating on the small porch for... More

Grabbed lunch here when passing through Portsmouth. Based on that limited experience, I'd like to return for dinner and try out what looks like a very interesting menu. Very nice atmosphere and excellent service. I tried the mussels with chorizo and the peanut crusted chicken wings. I enjoyed the mussels but thought the asian-inspired wings didn't have enough flavor. My... More

Great service, delicious food, on the water. Bloody Mary shooters and an Oyster bar. They didn't gouge you with prices for lunch either.

Please do not order this over buttered thing stuffed with 4 ounces of tasteless lobster , the Portuguese seafood pot was very good though at $29 ,still very expensive for what you are getting , waiter was efficient and friendly, the creme bruler was excellent and on the house along with the coffee because of the awful lobster roll. $82... Think about it, making pasta dishes is a good backup for restaurants that do not specialize in them, but the surf is all about preparing the good food, not jacked up! Just to taste good, just doing things right for your health, going back soon. the service was good, but it was the menu and the food that makes it... More
