For openers, Jim's got a pomegranate martini. It looks like a Cosmopolitan but that comes with cranberry juice. Who knew all you have to do to a martini is add fruit to make it a health drink? Jim's pan-fried buttermilk chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans is wafting over. R and I are having salmon that's been marinated in... More

Great lunch, great view on a sunny sunday afternoon. Fish tacos are highly recommended, scallops too! Frequent visitor to Portsmouth as I am a big fan of the NH coast. My wife is a foodie and pined to go for lunch here, she was right as usual!

We drove that evening to Portsmouth and as it was late we were interested in a small plate (appetizer). My husband had the haddock wonton soup that was a little spicy but he said it was excellent. I had the seafood cakes on a bed of cole slaw. They were an excellent mix of crab, cod and haddock with practically... More

Went to Surf several times during my bvisit in Portsmouth. Great food, excellent service. Can only recommend the lobster with asparagus and the indian curry.

My Mother and I stopped here for dinner on our way home from the White Mountains. Our server was Sam. I told her we've been craving lobster and she kindly recommended "100%" either the Lobster Sarah or lobster Kristin. We both got the Lobster Sarah and a cup of clam chowdah. It was SO delicious. The chowder had carrots in... More

lovely seafood from a restaurant which is close to the sea you could fish out your own. Classic food washed down with a lovely bottle of Veneta Pinot Grigio. On a freezing cold Wednesday evening this restaurant was packed but they managed to find us a table. Thanks

A large group of us were here for dinner ~ 12 people. We were seated right away, had numerous people waiting on us, no waiting. Servers were very knowledgeable of their menu offering recommendations. Nicely decorated, nautical bar feeling sitting on the waterfront. A lot of choices on the menu, appetizers seamed a little bit pricier than the rest of... More

Loved this place! Service was attentive and fun but not disruptive. The food was amazing. I had the sesame tuna with wasabi mashed followed by the just a bite dessert special. I would have it all again except I had food envy at other dishes I saw being served! The view of the water was fantastic. They do not take... More

Surf is a primarily seafood restaurant at street level overlooking Portsmouth harbor. Great view and they do have a little deck (three four seat tables) so you can sit outside during the summer months. Not what I would call fine dining, but a nice casual place to go if you love seafood. They have a large bar that seats about... More
