We were in town for a wedding and had some time to kill one afternoon so we stopped in here for lunch on a whim. The service we had that day was second to none. Our server was prompt, professional, and was able to answer any questions we had about the menu items. The food was delicious and fresh. The... More

I really liked the Surf about two years ago. I had been a couple of times. But the last two years I have mostly gone to Surf Sushi, their companion restaurant next door, which I love. So I decided to try Surf again. We sat at the bar which is usually crowded but we got seats. The wine selection is... More

Sat at a pub table with a nice view of the water. My husband had steamed lobster, which came with a large portion of cole slaw and mashed potatoes. The lobster was cooked well and was easy to remove from the shells as it was pre-cracked. I had the Lobster Kristina, which was named after the owners daughter. It was... More

I don't usually write reviews for the area I live in, but I feel like Surf Restaurant deserves some praise. Portsmouth, NH has more seats in its restaurants than it does citizens, thus one can speculate that this town offers a variety of dining experiences. While this is true, Surf chefs cook up consistently delicious plates - and it would... More

We were seated at a perfect table for a beautiful view of the water, our server was attentive and helpful but our meals were a disappointment. My partner ordered a haddock gyro and while I went with our server's recommendation and had the shrimp and avocado quesadilla, as well as a starter of parmesan fried calamari. We're big calamari fans... More

It's rare that you get a great meal at a great table with a great view, but that's what we got at Surf. We scored one of only 4 outside tables on the balcony and enjoyed a perfect evening sunset over the river. I had the Lobster Sarah and my wife had the smaller version, Lobster Kristina. Both are a... Just enjoyed a fab lunch at this beautifully modern decorated waterfront restaurant - and I can't wait to come back. The fusion menu had such cool options that we have to return to try some more. Picturesque water views throughout!

We had to wait 25 minutes to get a seat at around 8pm, so beware ! But the food was really good, there is a great choice of healtier food and the service was friendly.

Had a lovely dinner at the bar. Service was good and friendly. The food was delicious. I really liked the healthier options available on the menu.

With so many restaurant choices in Portsmouth, it was difficult to choose where to eat. Surf was not a good choice for us. The restaurant itself was very loud and crowded. We could have heard the conversation at the table next to us even if they had been whispering. As for the food, I had the shrimp with peas and... More
