Family style restaurant with little character and no charm despite the nice water view. Very unimaginative menu so we opted for the oysters. TINY and very disappointing. Would not recommend.

My husband and I came to Surf a couple of nights ago for dinner. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night in low season. Fortunately, though, we go a seat next to the window with a water view. It was dark out, but we still enjoyed the view. For cocktails, we both ordered painkillers. The menu claims their... More

Very nice, but not formal. Moderatly expensive. Great food. My favorites are the fried green tomato and bacon salad, the chowder, and the Portugese seafood stew. The raw bar is excellent, and the sushi is great. There is a small balcony with about four tables where you can sit outside if the weather is nice - very luck to get... More

We dine here at least two or three times a month. Good food, service and friendly staff. Love their tuna sushi by the ounce and hot stone tuna.

Food was great and so were the drinks. We came in with a group of 6 and had a fantastic time. The Bloody Mary, oyster type shots were fun and very tasty. We had oysters and the tuna to start, delicious. I had scallops and they were cooked perfectly. I also had the painkiller which took me right back to... More

What a gem of a restaurant. A friend and I ate sushi at the bar . Not only were the young chefs very innovative with their sushi entrees but friendly and happy to answer any questions about their outstanding menu. I'd go back again today if I were still In lovely Portsmouth, N.H.

We went on a Saturday afternoon and were surprised to see a wait. But, since we had a gift certificate, we decided to stay. The wait was shorter than expected, and we were seated within 10 minutes. We ordered a sushi sampler, a burger, a cup of chowder, and the mac and cheese truffle salt appetizer. Everything was cooked to... More

We loved Surf Sushi, but now that they have merged with surf, its unreasonable to wait 90 minutes in the winter for a table. No space at the bar either. I think these owners have let success go to their head. We heard from the hostess that they only take reservations for 6 or more. Plan your visit wisely.

Always excellent food and service. Great view overlooking the Piscataqua River. Not inexpensive but great restaurant for special occasions. Haven't tried their sushi bar yet but it appears to be excellent also.
