Irish Pub in the Heart of Downtown Portsmouth NH

We had lunch here while strolling around Portsmouth. We each ordered sandwich plates (Turkey and Reuben) and split them. We enjoyed our meals and both felt the turkey was the winner. Fries and onion rings were excellent and as usual for an Irish pub lots of beer. Because of the crowd we sat in the... read more

I had the corned beef, my husband had the infamous chowder. Both were outstanding! The poor bartender was the only one on for both the bar and the dining room and yet she did an excellent job and stayed calm through it all; we never wanted for anything. I would definitely go back though I'm sure I'll avoid those crazy... More

I've eaten here about a dozen times and usually get the fish and chips, which are some of the best I've had. There's a great selection of draft beer, and the Guinness is especially good! Service is excellent, and there are some nice luncheon specials every day. In nice weather, there's a patio with umbrellas that's great for people-watching. The... More

I had the Irish Mac & Cheese, which was served in a pan steaming hot. There were quite a few mushrooms mixed in and the sauce was really good-- not just cheese on pasta. We went on a busy Sunday afternoon and got seated right away. Yummy!

Former residents of New Hampshire, my husband and I were there on vacation this past September 2015. One afternoon, after taking in the Portsmouth sites, we wanted to find a spot to have a good cold beer and a light snack/lunch. Ri Ra's didn't exist yet when we left NH, back in 2003. Holy cow! What great place! Sat at... More

Went here with friends for dinner in mid December on a cold night. Loved the atmosphere and decor of the old building. I think it was an old bank. Had lots of old brick work and the area where are table was is an archway of old brick-almost like a tunnel. Food, drink, and service were all very good. Will... More

We had never been to Ri Ra before and were walking around Portsmouth so we stopped in. We did not have a meal - just had drinks at the bar and a snack. The interior is amazing. It looks like it was a bank in its previous life and has a incredibly high ceiling, tons of amazing dark woodwork, and... More

What a find! They have an all day full Irish breakfast for $14. Everything that you expect. Irish bacon, great hash, black, & white pud, eggs, toms, mushrooms, toast and sausage. So good that hubby had it 2 days running. The brunch specials were great too. I had a smaller breakfast for $7, and an amazing breakfast sandwich for $12.... More

Fun bank setting and great menu. Loved the kids options including a breakfast twist. Great cocktails and beer list. Live music on a Sunday evening topped it off!
