Sit and eat and drink by the river. Watch the lobster and fishing boats come in. I know it has been there over 40 years, maybe longer. Wonderful atmosphere to eat seafood. Don't expect table clothes. you'll be at picnic tables and such. Lobster can get messy, so don't wear you Sunday best

I know a lot of people like this place but both times it was terrible. Outdoor table were very dirty not with food but with dirt. Very slow and inattentive service. Last time I j ust ordered a toasted cheese and it was terrible and overpriced. How can you screw up a toasted cheese? Lots of other good places around.... More

If you find this helpful, please click the helpful link below. Ambiance - perfect, nestled in a little bay on the outskirts of Portsmouth. Have water view, sort or picturesque. The restaurant is dated but fits the traditional seafood theme. Food - food is fresh and tasty. Minor adjustments needed, peel and eat shrimp should be offered as prepared also.... More

We ate at BG's Boat House, one of our Portsmouth favorites, on Sunday of Labor Day Weekend. Unfortunately, the haddock was way overcooked and tough--possibly the most overcooked fish we've had anywhere (and we typically each seafood every night when we're on vacation). To be fair, the server spoke to the manager and the cost of the meal was deducted... More

The view is amazing. We sat outside (warning those metals chairs are freeing cold) The food was average. There was nothing great or even worth a 2nd order. it was just average, the view made up for the basic sea fare.

My 92-year old mother dined here before, with a group from her assisted living center. She enjoyed a great seafood lunch here, so we were eager to try this ourselves for the first time. We were not disappointed. There was plenty of parking, even though it was lunch time on Labor Day weekend. We were promptly seated in the dining... More

We stopped here for lunch on our way up to York Beach. Great atmosphere! We ate on the porch and enjoyed fantastic steamers, lobster rolls, and fried oysters. Loved the local beer! We will definitely make a stop here again.
