Having lived in Japan, this is some very authentic sushi. Get yourself a combo fried rice, Alaskan Roll, and one of their specialty rolls and you got yourself a good meal.

No doubt this restaurant serves excellent japanese food quality. The restaurant is not fancy, but sushi and tempura were a great choice to enjoy an amazing dinner with my husband while we were visiting Portsmouth. For sure we'll be back in our next visit to this city

The special rolls were so nice compared to the normal sushi rolls which were OK. Service was not that great. The LahLah roll and the special K rolls were the best. The Waitress seemed to be in a bit of a hurry and unfriendly but We all enjoyed the food. Nice place for a big crowd.

This was by far some of the best sushi I have ever had, and I've tried it all. It has plenty of seating options, from a regular table, to traditional Japanese style on-the-floor with low tables and pillows. It's a hidden gem in a shopping center, but well worth the trip. I will be back any time I'm back in... More

First, we did not eat sushi here, and might try that another time. This review is only about the yakitori and other small plates, often called izakaya-style in Japan. Most of the food on Shio's menu is izakaya, or bar food. We started with edamame, and shrimp and vegetable tempura. The edamame were good. The tempura was tasty, but the... More

Good selection of sushi and entrée options, but the yellowtail was tough. Tofu was best ever: light batter, silken tofu, and balanced broth with delicate touches of bonito and nori. Could eat this weekly if I lived nearby. Very nice staff as well.

My Husband and I went here last night. I'll start off by saying that I am not a big fan of sushi, but my Husband loves it. I decided to take him here based on the reviews. I am so happy I made the choice to go to Shio. I had made reservations, and we arrived a little early, but... More

I go to Shio about every other week. It is by far my favorite place to go for sushi, and very reasonably priced. The food is great, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. It's a great place to go with family, or a friend. I never go wrong with the Philadelphia roll, and the chicken tempura roll. They... More

I had heard that this was an excellent restaurant and it did not disappoint. We had a group of 4 for dinner on a Sunday night and everything was great. We sat at a regular table and shared a mixture of dishes between us. Everything we tried was delicious, the service very good and the ambience nice and welcoming. The... More

We just discovered this place, only 30 minutes from home. What a restaurant! Really creative sushi and everything we had was fresh and DELICIOUS. Wow! If it weren't for the embarrassing whale boat we ordered, I could have easily had more :-) We will be regulars here. Anytime a restaurant is jammed at lunch? What a great sign! Shio will... More
