We ate here while in Portsmouth- can't say enough about the place. Nice enough to sit outside and the service was excellent. We shared five tapas, including snails with steel cut oats, grilled shrimp, fried artichokes with sauce, apples and cheese with arugula, and huckleberry almond torta. Would recommend it all but the snails were the best! Definitely a must... More

We love this place. Whether you eat upstairs or downstairs, the atmosphere is really good. The place is almost always filled, so make a reservation. The block is off the main street and is quite pretty. Parking is in a lot a block away. Sit at the four-seat bar and watch the food or sit at a table. We loved... More

We were not there for a meal but had drinks and hors d'oeuvres and drinks in the lower level bar. All was good but not exceptional. We felt like an inconvenience to the staff (at least the one guarding the gate). It was pleasant but not an experience that would bring us back. Caveat: We did not have a meal.... More

Chef Sessler's food is not only delicious but also playful and creative. Be sure not to miss the new fall menu including the famed butternut squash soup with cocoa nib! Cava's wine list is incredible and the team there deserves 9.5s and 10s across the board. Great value for your dollar and always a fun and cozy experience. Well done... More

The food was tasteless, not a place we want to remember. However the service was good, not great. The wine was totally overpriced for the "quality". Will never come back.

Want a special treat? Stop in Cava's for some great food and drink. We sat at the bar on the main floor, there's another one underground in the cave. Bartender made us some great drinks.... a Brazillan specialty.. Cuiprehana (sp?) and a pineapple mojito... then some nice wine to go along with our tapas. I had the pork belly... it... More

No trip to southern Maine is complete without a visit to Cava for dinner at the chef's table. Greg is an artist with his creations and presentations and since I love to cook I get an opportunity to question him on his methods and techniques. I always leave the dinner with several ideas for innovations in my cooking. Ingredients are... More

This is a very special treat! Do not miss out on this place. Words are not enough, you must go! We maybe ordered a little too much food, but we could not get over how delicious this all was. We were greeted warmly, our server Lulu was excellent, as well as all the staff who came around. And well...you simply... More

This small tapas restaurant is very big on flavor! The tasting menu @ only $32 is a bargain and a very special treat. If you're lucky enough to get a seat at the "kitchen" table, which is really a four seat bar, then you can watch and talk to the chef as he prepares all the dishes going out of... More

apparently 8:30 on a Tuesday is late in Portsmouth as we were warned that the kitchen would close at 9 and that we should do our ordering. we ordered too much and it came out way too fast so we had 2 or 3 plates in front of us at a time. however, everything that we had was well prepared... More
