Go on Sunday for trivia night, it's a really good time! Youd be surprised at the turnout and the amount of fun everyone has. Locals call it the Salt Lick. In an area where most places close at 9pm weekday or weekend, Salt Hill is usually open the latest. I love the southwestern eggrolls & the artichoke dip :-)

We chose the Salt Box Tavern in Newport, NH mainly out of convenience. It was a mistake. This place was in Restaurant Impossible ‘before’ condition. Spit vinyl seats, a filthy carpet and only two other parties in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon sent off warning signs as son as we walked in the door. The food was nondescript at... More

I used to be a Shanty Reg when their dad was around, The boys and their Sister have continued on in the great Tuohy tradition. Keep up the good work guys it's great to see a new generation continuing a family idea.

We were looking for a lunch spot and saw a historic building in the middle of town. Our two soups were delicious as well as the quiche. The waitress was very attentive to us. We left happy.

First visit here, good food, inattentive service. Fun atmosphere, decent food, arrived in timely manner, waitress seemed to care less about good service. Would've had another beer if she cared to stop by... Nachos with smoky bacon. Good sized plate of nachos served very hot. Could use a bit more cheese and more than a "hint" of bacon. Please get... A rainy Friday seemed like a good day to try out the Salt Hill Pub in Newport. Located in the city's quaint downtown, the restaurant always seems to have a great crowd. Today was no exception. My wife and i were promptly seated and after a few minutes the server arrived for drink orders. My wife had the unsweet ice... More

Honest bar/pub type food, great drinks and good service. Don't go here for a gourmet meal, but for good food and fun atmosphere

Considering there are so few dining options in Newport, it is okay. We had great service and the food was nothing exceptional - it was just okay.

We visited family in N.H. and while taking a drive on a cold wintery day, we came across this historic building. We love history, and of course food. We all got something different, and each was good. We sat at the window which is always fun. We had a good experience.

Travel to Newport regularly and came early to get a bite to eat. Went to Salt Hill as I had been to the Salt Hill in Lebanon several times. When I walked in I heard some little kids crying, and asked to be seated away from them. They accomodated me and was seated in a quiet section of the restaurant.... More
