Is this what homemade really tastes like. Mouth watering carrots and chicken goulash oh my. It was quick but incredible rich in flavour. The service was excellent and the prices were low in comparison to other restaurants in the area. Great for a quick lunch when taking a break from the convention centre or even a great supper idea. Great for breakfast! Pastries are fantastic! Soups are wonderful! Lunch and dinner entrees can be variable, but that doesn't stop me from coming back every time I'm in Manchester!

I stumbled upon this place in downtown Manchester and was so glad I did because it is such a great find. They have a Hungarian/Romanian menu with Goulash, Schnitzel and other old-world authentic entrees. I first had the meatball soup which I believe was made from scratch while I waited. Then, as an entree I had the chicken schnitzel. My... More

Authentic Hungarian food and pastry are here for your pleasure! Everything from cold cherry soup to Weiner Schnitzel to goulash, its all here. Snuggled downtown between a store and an alley, it takes some looking to find, but its worth the effort. Their cooking is excellent and their pastries are not only art to look at but an experience to... More

Had the stuffed cabbage and it was excellent. Every bite as good as the previous and a nice size lunch portion. Wish we lived here so I could try other dishes! The place is small, casual and the owner was very helpful and friendly.

I have visited many times...usually take out the authentic Hungarian dishes and pastries. My family is part Czech these foods treat my Mom to the foods of her childhood. The service is great- they are always happy to answer any questions. The poppy seed roll is wonderful just like Grandma used to make. Treat yourself to this wonderful hidden jewel!!

A very unexpected find! Still hungry after our failed poutine attempt, my friend and I were wandering around downtown Manchester when Lala's caught our attention. I don't think I've ever seen a Hungarian themed bakery so we went in and were very pleasantly surprised to see it was also a sit down restaurant. We went with goulash and stuffed cabbage.... More

We were looking for an ice cream cone that wouldn't break the bank, and found it at Lala's - the best coffee ice cream I've had in years. We came back the next day for lunch, and the meals were every bit as good, as were the pastries which we took away to have later. Reasonable prices, outside tables for... More

Lala (man) is a pastry genius. He makes traditional EU desserts and cookies that melt in your mouth. If you're lucky, you will go on a dat when he has slices of his 12 layer Dobost torte cake....amazing! This little hole in the wall is a hidden jewel. You can dine there, but it is tiny and tables fill fast,... More

These were the dishes I grew up on. The Goulash and Stuffed Green Peppers were great! Tart Cherry Soup was the best I've ever had! Desserts were well worth the extra 30min on the treadmill. If you are going from Manchester to Lake Winnepisaukee you have to stop off here.
