Puritan rocks! The lobster pie is very good as are the scallops and haddock. I go here for seafood though all of the other entrees that I see there look excellent. The portions are decent and don't miss the Greek Salad that comes as a side dish or the rice pilaf. Their ice cream has many flavors -- much of... More

I know that folks rave about the chicken tenders (marinated in pineapple juice for sweet tenderness), but I'll take their ice cream any day of the year. The hummus is very good -not harsh as it can be some places. The spinach-artichoke dip is very good, too -not at all bland, as it is all to often. Honestly, though, when... More

On our way back from Wolfeboro we stopped at the Puritan for the first time in several years and once again were not disappointed. This is a large busy place that where we have often had to wait to be seated, but having arrived around 2 PM were able to get a table immediately. Our waitress was quickly there to... More

If you're from Manchester, the likelihood is that you grew up going to the Puritan Backroom, you worked there, or you knew somebody who worked there. In my case, it was all of the above and I used to live up the street. It's not just a restaurant. It's part of the culture in Manchester. Ok, enough of that. You... More

I have been eating at the Backroom for over 20 years. The food is great. With a vast menu of steaks pasta chicken and seafood. They are famous for their special chicken tenders and Greek salad. Prime rib is huge! And awesome lobster pie! Try a nightly special. Scallops are always cooked perfectly. Nice family atmosphere. Don't let the line... More

We have eaten at the Puritan Back Room many times, but I have never provided a review. I felt is was necessary to let everyone know how good their prime rib is. I have now had it 4 times and it has been the same everytime. Tender, cooked as I requested and a monster proportion for the price. When I... More

Great food, big portions and great service. We went for dinner tonight - I had the chicken fingers and for a side I ordered the coleslaw. The fingers were amazing as usual and the slaw was fresh and creamy. My hubby had the veal schnitzel and said it was very good. The bread and butter beforre dinner is nice especially... More

Large, bustling restaurant, yet privacy abounds in large booths where you can catch a quick lunch (specials vary daily) or linger a while w/delectable drinks followed by sumptuous, well-priced entrees. Whether a youngster or an oldster, everyone raves over classic chicken fingers, greek salad, chowders, lamb, steak & countless fish presentations.
