Greek night

The best meal we ate in Manchester. The baked lamb was amazing. We also had the custard dessert. We loved it!

I used to eat here frequently 30+ years ago, when I lived in Manchester. Went there for lunch (hadn't been in for about 18 years) and I was delighted to find the place hasn't changed a bit. Our server told us it is the same chef that has been cooking there since the place opened and I believe it as it... More

Here on a business trip with a friend, and a craving for Greek. Well-kept restaurant, the Athens was recommended another friend as being inexpensive. Food was OK, but nothing special. I had the spinach pie, and was told that it came with no other accompaniments. It was a huge portion, double the average. But I would've much preferred having half... More

Just like Yia Yia (grandmother in Greek) used to make. This is the only restaurant that I have been to that makes food so authentic it takes me back to my childhood. I have been to several other restaurants that claim to make Greek food and they pale in comparison. If you would like to try some delicious, authentic Greek... More

We have been to the Athens many times and are never disappointed. Everything is great and the fish is wonderful.

My standard of comparison with other Greek restaurants is the Mousakka. Their version came out looking impressive (heaping portion). But it was very heavy on the meat and sauce, very light on the eggplant. The other ingredients were overwhelmed by the meat/sauce/brown oil (balsamic?). Also, portions of it (a baked dish) were cold, including the eggplant. Anyway, the dinner entree... More

I am always looking for some good greek food to try, and was told this place was the best around. I have determined that is a lie. Pastisio is my favorite greek dish to order out, because it's time consuming and messy to make at home. The topping was almost non existent, the meat was flavorless, and the ziti was... More

Chicken livers used to be on the regular menu, but not any more. Nevertheless, twice when I have been there, I requested chicken livers -- and got them! Just really great food and great staff. Never too crowded either. Why not? Should be.

This is my 2nd review I've written about the family owned and operated Athens restaurant. I've eaten the lamb chops at the famous Chalet Suisse in Aruba, and I can truly say the lamb chops at the Athens are just as good, twice the size, and half the price. 38 years ago, the Athens was the place to go, filled... Went here on a Friday night. The staff was extremely nice and went over the top to make sure we were satisfied with everything. Everyone that works there is family and they are extremely friendly and professional. They talked to us about their restaurant and ho everything is made fresh in the kitchen. They even buy the entire lamb and... More
