The staff is great, the food is great. I highly recommend 1686 Restaurant The History is also worth learning while you enjoy eating, dining, and special occasions.

The Kingston House has been a great restaurant in Kingston NH for many years. The service is excellent and their food is worth the visit. Interesting that there is nothing fried on the menu which speaks highly of their standards. Sitting in the lounge/bar which is informal and comfortable or sitting in the dining room which is more formal you... More

If you're looking for a bit of New England history at an inn loaded with charm, spot- on cocktails, huge, premium shrimp cocktail, traditional fare, delicious prime rib, surprising and well-executed continental veal entree offerings, and top-notch service, this is the place. We went there for the wiener schnitzel and prime rib and were not disappointed, and we always expect... More

The Kingston 1686 House is 428 years old. It is a step back in time with modern amenities. We especially enjoy the filet mignon. Always excellent. This restaurant delivers a relaxed, dining experience. The fire in the Barn Room adds a nice warmth to the atmosphere. Some of the reviews I read just seem like they are describing a different... My husband brought me to dinner here as he had fond memories of the place from year's ago. Unfortunately some things have changed a lot. The building itself is very nice and the restaurant looks attractive. We were there on a Saturday night and the main dining room was about a third full. The room was cold and I had... More

The buffet on Sunday mornings is the worse buffet I have ever had. Food is cold and not tasty at all. The manager could care less, they have had many, many complaints, but do nothing about it!!! My family spent $100 for a lousy breakfast and would never ever go back or recommend this place to anyone. I don't understand... More

Celebrated Dad's 90th surprise birthday party and it was a huge success. Us "kids" settled on a light lunch buffet which included hot and cold sandwiches, chips, salad, and tea/coffee at a set price per person inclusive of the tip. A cash bar was available. We sat in the outer-closed patio dining room and explored the entire historic building. Service... More
