Thanksgiving buffet

We made a later reservation, on Sunday, for Thanksgiving day and were seated in the pub near the dining room. We enjoyed the buffet with the exception of the pumpkin bisque...I am not sure anyone actually tasted it before it went out. We noticed lots of people taking some, but no one really... read more

We had breakfast in the dining room both mornings of our stay. They offer either a full buffet or continental breakfast although the front desk told us upon check in that we would be ordering from the menu. We had the continental which compared to what we would have usually ordered from the menu. Coffee or tea, choice of toast,... More

We had dinner reservations for 8pm. They lost power just before than. They said they could feed us anyway and they did but I wish we had gone someplace else. It was 1/2 hour before we even got a roll and a drink and the uninspiring dinner took over 2 hours before we were done. The loss of power I'm... More

He hotel was virtually empty when we stayed here & drinking in an empty pub is no fun at all, so I only went in the once when Her Ladyship was having a massage. American football was on TV far too loud & for the benefit of the barman plus three locals who turned up to watch the Patriots thrash... More

Just a short walk away from the Wentworth, we sat in the bar and had some local ales, good pub food ( I had meat loaf and mash and my wife had shepherd's pie) all presented with that inimitable American service ethos. Not only that there was a party on the terrace with a old guy serving classic old songs,... More

We dined in the restaurant, (not the tavern), three weeks ago. First impressions didn’t augur well. Huge, sombre, old fashioned looking dining room – looked like just another big, old hotel whose glory days are long behind it... But the menu and wine list looked interesting, and our food – I had the onion soup and skillet chicken, my wife... More

While staying at the Eagle Mountain, we did dine twice in their restaurant. We found the food to be very good, with a very creative menu. There are fewer choices than one may get elsewhere, however, you do have the option of having a standard meal or smaller fare. Between the two of us, we had four different items, &... More

Main course for two - not many diners in restaurant but there were some thirty diners in a separate room. Only two waiters in restaurant therefore the Hostess was "helping out" a little. We had to ask for the Menu and waited an hour for two main courses. The steak was undercooked and returned to the kitchen for further cooking.... More

I had one of the most delicious steaks I have ever eaten. This is a wonderful place with a rich history. The old photographs really bring back the feel of this place many years ago. I would like to see some of the old photos enlarged - especially the one near out table.

Atmospehere is quaint. Bar is small - lounge is adequate. Good food but prices seem a little high for what you get.
