Comfort Food

Don't know if it was because we were there on a cold, rainy night, but their food was very "comforting." Delicious corn chowder. Hot and yummy chicken pot pie. Variety of craft beers.

We have been to the Shovel Handle on numerous occasions and found it to be hidden gem in an otherwise mediocre food scene in the North Conway area. The food has been very good with reasonable portions and the drinks were generous to say the least. Our visit this evening was a disappointment. Our server, Sarah, was wonderful, but the... More

And this was a sweet surprise we found! The music was wonderful, and the food super delish!! It's right next to Black mountain, love the old barn and they have so many historic skiing/ white mountain items all around. We are planning on coming back in the winter!

Great atmosphere. Great live music and such a good time had with friends. HOWEVER, service was dysfunctional at best. Though we were seated immediately it took a long time to order drinks, we got the wrong food delivered to us and the hostess actually came over with our check before we got our actual dinner. Then a table was seated... More

A little out of the way, but worth the experience. They had a great live band playing, the bartender was very attentive, and everyone was having a good time.

What a great, cozy spot! Food was good, kids were happy, service was great. Views from the huge windows of the mountain and horses grazing were idyllic. There was a musician performing but the acoustics work well so it didn't take over our conversation. They are only open two nights a week. My only complaint was that the only IPA... More

Stumbled upon this place while driving around Jackson. Prices are very reasonable, ranging from $10 hearty sandwiches/salads/burgers up to $25ish for a steak dinner. All the food was excellent. Good drink selection too, including local beers on tap and a solid Scotch list. But above all we just really liked the atmosphere. Energetic but low key, good live music and... More

We had dinner here on the evening we arrived in Jackson. The place is only open on Fridays and Sunday's, but still does a good business. The building is an old barn with visible beams. The food is solid comfort food kicked up a bit. My flank steak with onion gravy was very good, as was my wife's duck. Most... More

I had the steak tips. They were chewy and fatty. My husband enjoyed his surf and surf entree. Mashed potatoes and veggies were good.
