Stopped for a drink, had some fun conversations.

After skiing, we stopped at this lovely old pub and restaurant for a beer and a scotch. Well we got to talking with a few locals and a few hours later well..... Great selection of Bourbons, Straight Ryes and Scotches, the menu looked great and we were told by customers that the food is... read more

Been here many times, it has an excellent atmosphere, you are in an open barn, lots of lights and othe decor that adds to the atmosphere, and you look out on the base of the ski slope. Nice variety on the menu, have tried many of their choices and all were excellent. The staff is very friendly and efficient. It's... More

The SHP has amazing food and a great apre ski environment. The pub is converted from an old barn and the atmosphere is cozy, warm, and inviting. My favorite dish on the menu is the steak tips. They are amazing! Always cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth.

Five stars for food and live music. Two stars for long wait and insanely crowded bar and screaming kids. Two stars for freezing first floor dining area. Came here with my husband for a bite to eat around 6:30 and immediately wished we had come later as there was a 1.5 hour wait and kids everywhere. On the stairs, by... More

My wife and I had dinner here on Black Friday. The Shovel Handle was recommended to us by the bartender at our Inn. They were busy the night we went, and so some of what we experienced could be explained by that, but part of the problem was that no one made any effort to communicate anything to us. We... More

Unfortunately we visited during a quiet part of the season so, not fault of the pub, the atmosphere was rather lacking. My husband had a burger, which he said was tasty, the rest of our meals was pretty much standard pub food which, whilst filling, lacked much flavour. Friendly service, but a little over the top.

At the suggestion of our Bed and Breakfast owner we tried the Shovel Handle Pub. It is located at the base of Black Mountain and must be very busy during ski season. On the night we had dinner there were only a few parties. Although they had some draft beers they didn't have any craft beers of my liking. I... More

Charming country restaurant with comfortable dining and a great bar and menu. Local bands and great service make this one of our go-to places in the valley.
